Directional Thoughts

Came home from school to do the Freshly Made Sketches  and the Colour Me…! Challenges.  Gotta admit - blue and orange are not my favourites - but I like how this turned out.

I used a brayer to colour the inside of my chevron embossing folder before embossing the paper.  I also used my Stamp-a-ma-Jig to get the little squares lined up on the blue piece.

Absolutely loving the melting snow, the fresh air, the late light night sky….I know it still can snow before the May long weekend - but the end is in sight and it looks good.

Thanks for stopping by,
Joan

Oh Baby!

Marie has a fun sketch for us today over at Sunday Stamps, and the design team members have some fabulous projects for inspiration!
I decided to create a baby card with this one - I just love the little shoes that are included in this set….and the little bunny is so so sweet.  I can't wait until we get the new Blendabilities markers so I can do a better job of shading things in.

Hope you are having a super Sunday and that you find some time to play with us at Sunday Stamps.  Thanks for stopping by today.
Have a great day - Joan

My Undefined Flower

This afternoon I got the chance to ink up my very own stamp….the one I carved using the Undefined kit at Leadership.  I have carved one other stamp, but haven't used it yet - shame on me!

I took the colours from this week's Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge - Costal Cabana, Strawberry Slush and Wisteria Wonder.  I really quite like the combination.  I used markers to colour in the sections of my image…..

Speaking of….

When you sign up for Paper Pumpkin between January 11 and February 10, 2014 you will get a FREE package of 2012-14 In Colour Markers ($19.95 value)

Elliot's Birthday Card

I created this card for my grandson's birthday party today - he will be turning 2 on Wednesday.  To create the greeting I wanted in the word bubble, I inked up the words on two different stamps from the "Just Sayin'" set and used the Stamp-a-ma-Jig to line them up.  The number 2 is from the retired Timeless Type JR. Sizzlits set.

The card was made to match the cake his mom made him -

Hope you are having a wonderful day - stay warm as best you can if you're in my neck of the woods!
Thanks for visiting,

Halloween Mashup

I got a chance to do a Friday Mashup card on the weekend....and then I used the basis of it to create 19 other cards that I'll be giving away.

The mashup was...
  1. Create a project using "the Sketch."
  2. Create a "Spooky" project.
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a "Spooky project using the above sketch. " shown below!

Hope today is going well for you!

Yippee Skippee Monkeys!

Yipee Skippee it's a new sketch for Sunday Stamps brought to you by Steph!  I'm lovin' these little animals from the Zoo Babies stamp set!  They're just so  cute....so I thought this little monkey would be pleased to help someone celebrate something they're happy about!

Here is the sketch from Steph - you really need to check out the other creations by the rest of the Design Team!  They're awesome - as usual!  Remember to link your project back to the Sunday Stamps  Challenge Blog so we can all take a peek at your creation!

I still have room at my Technique Class this week if you're wanting to stop by to create two cards using the Versa Mark Resist and Joseph's Coat Techniques.

I'm happy we had a fantastic first week at school and I'm gearing up for the next full week.....ooops - actually it's another short week for me because I head to Banff with Greg Thursday afternoon.  LOL!
Hope you have something to look forward to this week!
Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Day

Oh, Happy Day - I did my first challenge for the summer....actually two.  I've combined the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and the Friday Mashup!

I've used Gorgeous Grundge (from Convention) for the splatters and Happy Day.  I've also added some of the Brights Candy Dots - I like these so much the way they are, I'm not sure I'll ever turn them into brads; but it's nice to have the option.

I'm appreciating the simple sketch - it made the card quick to create.  I'm finding that since I haven't been home for a month, there are so many things that I WANT to do as well as HAVE to do, that I'm not quite sure where I need/want to start.  Guess I'll just take one day at a time!

The Friday Mashup is...
  1. Create a project with "Polka Dots ".
  2. Create a project using "the Word Happy".
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a project "with Polka Dots & The Word Happy on it ".
And the sketch is here...
I have also worked on putting together some of my Paper Pumpkins - I had a number of boxes that I had no time to play with.  The July kit included supplies to create little banners....I opted to change them into cards.  I've only created two right now - I still have supplies for more.

And I guess I've actually completed one more challenge since I found the My Paper Pumpkin Challenge Blog.  I'll be checking it out from now on too.

Off I go to begin the day - hope you have a marvelous one.
Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Bootday

This morning I'm sharing the card I created for my daughter's birthday, which was yesterday.  Twenty-two years old - my how time flies.  She recently discovered this stamp set when she came to Regionals with me and so we got the cowboy boots for her.  She also loves chevron, purple and glitter....so it all works perfectly.

I cut out one of the boots and raised it with dimensionals.  The stars on the boots have been covered with Tombow Glue and sprinkled with a glitter combination that Allison and I had created for another project years ago.  (Gotta love those little brads and buttons containers to keep things available for the future.
You can't notice in the photo but I've used the Silver Dazzle Marker to add a bit of silver pizzazz to the boots.  Finally, the rhinestones on the greeting have been coloured with purple sharpie.

Hope you have something to kick your heels up about today.  Thanks for taking the time to stop by to visit.

Only One You

Woo Hoo - Happy Saturday beginning of a long weekend!  I am so looking forward to this!  Nothing planned - but I'm hoping to get various types of crafting done.

So - first off is a completed card for the Friday MashUp challenge.  I'm aiming for a card for next months' Technique Class.....I'm going to be doing the Kissing Techniqiue - but I'm NOT going to be expecting everyone to colour in the plaid with their markers!  We'll have a plain coloured little piggy for that.  But, for this challenge, I used the markers to colour in the different stripes of plaid and then kissed the pig to it.  I was thrilled to find the "There's only One You" sentiment - because it was so fitting - and therefore I decided to mask some piggy friends in the background.  I love how the Tangerine guy has wonky eyes!  There's one in every crowd!

The sketch for the card is from Freshly Made Sketches.

So - here is the challenge - I love doing Friday Mashups - I've missed a number, but they're always fun!  Have a fantastic day - thanks for taking the time to stop by.
Joan

Happy Birthday Phone Call...

It's a sketch week at Sunday Stamps and Melissa has a great one for us; very versatile!

I chose to use another of the fabulous images from the "Feeling Sentimental"  set - which will be available during Sale-a-Bration.  I  love these images.  The base of the card has been embossed and I used the Natural Trim with a Brushed Bronze button to top everything off.  The colours I've used are Riding Hood Red, More Mustard and Crumb Cake.

I hope you'll give the sketch a try - pop over to the Sunday Stamps Challenge blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has come up with for inspiration......

Here are a few things to keep in mind when you join us.

1. Please provide a Link back to us in your Post.
2. Please link directly to your blog post for the challenge.
3. Feel free to use any Brand of product.
4. Deadline is Friday January 11th @12pm EST.

Sunday Stamps Lion

We may have a whole whack of snow on the ground here in Northern Alberta - but it's wonderful autumn colours for our Colour Challenge from Holly today at Sunday Stamps.
Although the colours do make me think of fall I've chosen to take on a more masculine theme with the colours.  I love this lion and felt the colours worked pretty well for him.  I just added a bit of green for the grass.  The glimmer paper seemed to go well to - although it changes the masculine feel.  (I have so many bits and pieces of glimmer paper in my craft room from Christmas projects - it's ridiculous.)

I hope you give these colours a try - my American friends can use them perfectly for Thanksgiving projects.  When you've finished your creation, be sure to connect a link to the Sunday Stamps Blog so we can enjoy it too.  We have some new Design Team Members this week also to help inspire you.  Welcome to Raquelle, Melissa and Steph.

Hope everything is going well your way.
Thanks for taking the time to visit.

Sooted Ghost Ship

I can't believe it's the middle of the week already and it's going to be a busy day - so here we go

I'm preparing for next month's technique class with the above card.  I have done the sooting technique at team meetings but have never tried it at home.  It took a couple of tries before I was able to create the effect I wanted.  It was sort of magical though and I'm looking forward to doing it October 5 with my stampers.

HERE is the tutorial on Splitcoast to show you how to do this technique.

Hope you have a fantastic day.
Thanks for dropping by.

Canada Day Sunday Stamp Duo

HAPPY CANADA DAY!
We'll be having a busy day here today - Pancake Breakfast, Trivia Questions before the Parade, Lunch and fun and games at my Canamaniac friend Amy's house.  It will be Elliot's first Canada Day, so we're looking forward to spending the whole day with him too!  Don't think we'll be going to the fireworks though since we have to be on a plane at 1:00am tomorrow morning.  WooooHoooo!

AND it's also
Sunday Stamps!

It's a sketch day at Sunday Stamps - and it's a perfect sketch if you're needing to make a card in a pinch.  Any shape could be used where the circle is  - and that's exactly how this card duo ended up being created.
I had initially created the card with the sail boat - a week ago when I knew I needed to get some of my challenges done ahead of time before travelling on holidays.  Then I realized that this post would go live on Canada Day - so I turned around and created a second card, which you see above, using today's holiday as a theme;   proving that any shape can be used where the circle is in the sketch!

The two bands across the middle of the sketch provide a lot of room for creativity and for this sail boat I chose to use fibers for both - I'm loving the new stitched ribbon for the new In Colours....and the twine is a wee bit nautical.
Here's the sketch for you to go by and for more inspiration, be sure to stop by the Sunday Stamps Blog to see what the rest of the Design Team came up with this week.  Be sure to link your project back to Sunday Stamps so we can see what you've created.

Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians.
Have a safe and fun celebration!
