Happy Bootday

This morning I'm sharing the card I created for my daughter's birthday, which was yesterday.  Twenty-two years old - my how time flies.  She recently discovered this stamp set when she came to Regionals with me and so we got the cowboy boots for her.  She also loves chevron, purple and glitter....so it all works perfectly.

I cut out one of the boots and raised it with dimensionals.  The stars on the boots have been covered with Tombow Glue and sprinkled with a glitter combination that Allison and I had created for another project years ago.  (Gotta love those little brads and buttons containers to keep things available for the future.
You can't notice in the photo but I've used the Silver Dazzle Marker to add a bit of silver pizzazz to the boots.  Finally, the rhinestones on the greeting have been coloured with purple sharpie.

Hope you have something to kick your heels up about today.  Thanks for taking the time to stop by to visit.

Oh Hello

Welcome to this week's Sunday Stamps Challenge - this week Melissa has an awesome colour combination for us.

These colours are right up my alley...I love all three of them!  They spoke "masculine" to me initially, but they really don't have to be.  I decided to use the new "Oh Hello" set with a piece of DSP from "Parker's Patterns" in the Occasions Catalogue.  It was surprising that I didn't have any Soft Suede ribbon - so I went with the Marina Mist and spruced up the corner with a trio of darker embellishments.

The sketch for this card came from Freshly Made Sketches.  I can always count on them to  provide inspiration when I'm in a crunch.  Soooooo much to do this weekend.....sooooo happy for the inspirational blogs out there!

If you're looking for some inspiration in using Melissa's colours this week, make sure you check out the Sunday Stamps Challenge Blog because there are some stunning cards from the rest of the Design Team!

Pool Party Daisy

The middle of the week is nearly gone - and the month of May is on it's way out.  It's unbelievable how quickly the school year is coming to an end....and how quickly summer is approaching.  WoooHooo!

The sketch today is from Freshly Made Sketches and I've been thinking about this Daisy die for the Big Shot for a couple of days now, so decided to use it today.

Well.....off to do more prep work.  Hope you've enjoyed your Hump Day!
Thanks for stopping by for a visit.

Celebrate Mocha

Today's challenge at Create with Connie and Mary was to create a "celebrate" card and to use your favourite Designer Series Paper.  I've taken the sketch from this weeks' Mojo Monday challenge.

I fell in love with Mocha Morning as soon as I saw it in the catalogue last June.  I loved the name, the tones and the elegance.

I'm almost ready for my All Occasion Stack tomorrow - I'll probably bake some chocolate chip cookies tomorrow afternoon.  I wouldn't mind hiring Allison to do some baking again.  She did an awesome job last weekend for my Sunday afternoon tea.  She made these "Slutty Brownies" - Oh My Word - they were to die for!

HERE is the link to the recipe -
In a nutshell - Chocolate Chip Cookie dough on the bottom, Oreo Cookies layered in the middle and Brownie dough on top - all baked together.....need I say more?????

Have a marvellous end to your week.  Thanks for stopping by!

Beads and Blues

Oh how I loved this set!  My daughter asked me to create a card for a friend of hers who turned 21 on the weekend - Allison was pinched for time and I was glad to be able to help her.  The specifications were purple and glitter.  We both agreed that this dress was perfect too.  After that I had free rein.

I always loved putting microbeads on this dress.....so that's what I did.  I coloured it with Elegant Eggplant, applied Crystal Effects and then added the Microbeads.  The background is done with the Baroque Motif image with Versa Mark and Irridescent Ice was added to give it the subtle bling.  The final bit of bling is the little rhinestone of the dot of the I.  Allison was happy with what I came up with.

I actually have another dress made up with silver microbeads......waiting for something to use that one for now.

This is one of the cards we do at my in-home workshops.  Quick, easy, and I love this blue.  To be honest...as the workshops continue, the sketch will stay the same, but the colours will change because I'm using pieces that are left over from my Teacher's Convention make-and-takes.

That's it for today.  I'm planning on doing a challenge when I get home from school today...wooohooo!!

Hope you have a Marvelous Monday!  I'm looking forward to mine.

Stamp and Dash....

A quick post today, before I head off to school, which incorporates the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge and colours from Stampin' Royalty.

With the sketch I thought I would try just stamping the quadrants with the flourish from Elementary Elegance and topping it with the punched image, which is raised with dimensionals.  In the end I wasn't sure about the central piece - but I used that to incorporate the fourth Stampin Royalty colours - They are Tempting Turquoise, Lucky Limeade, Pumpkin Pie, and Crumb Cake.

One I embossed the centre piece, I flipped it and coloured in the swirls with a white gel pen.  And of course, just a little bit of bling added to each section.

Well, I'm off - hope you are having a wonderful day - thanks for stopping by!

Gatefold Numbers MashUp!

Wooohooo!  I am so excited to share with you today that I have been invited to be a guest designer with The Friday Mashup! for the month of September.  I have thoroughly enjoyed doing these challenges each week since I found the blog - I always look forward to see what things have been chosen to Mash together.  I am so absolutely honored to be working with these wonderfully talented ladies!  I know I'm going to have a blast!  So, for this week the Mash Up is -

  1. Create a card that uses a "Gatefold" .
  2. or Create a card that uses "Numbers"(stamped, die cut, chip board etc)
  3. or "Mash it Up!" and create a "Gatefold Card using Numbers"!

For my creation - I've used Calypso Coral and Pool Party with the "Elizabeth" stamp.  I'm a bit sad that the colour looks so dark on the one side of the photo - it's really a soft looking card in real life.  I used some of my billions of chipboard for the numbers.  At first I inked them with white craft ink - but then sponged some pool party on top.

Upon seeing this card, my daughter remarked that it couldn't be her card even though it's pretty.  She may end up using it for a friend since they'll all be turning 21 this coming year.

Be sure to go on over to the Friday Mashup and check out the wonderful creations the Design Team has come up with.  And remember to use FM22 when posting to a public gallery.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a fantastic Labour Day Weekend!

Thanks Giraffe

Happy Thursday - Today's sketch is from Splitcoast Stampers and the colors come from Create Ink. ( Pool Party,  Not Quite Navy, So Saffron)  You should go over to their blog to see what the DT has created this week - they're spectacular.

I've stayed on the edge of plain today again..... I had all the layers put together, except for the giraffe - and I just couldn't help putting the whole thing through the Big Shot with the Polka Dot embossing folder - I just couldn't take the flat paper today.  I did have to deviate a bit from the Create Ink colours in order to darken up the giraffe's spots - I touched them a bit with Soft Suede.  The grass is a combination of the Not Quite Navy and the So Saffron.

I hoping to get some workshop planning done today and some pictures copied.  However, I can be so easily distracted these days that we'll just have to see what the day holds!

If you have a list of jobs to do for today, I hope you get most of them done!  Thanks for taking time to stop by for a visit.

Stamping Withdrawl Finally Overcome

Well, I finally got into my stamping room today.  We arrived home from a holiday on Tuesday night and I spent a couple hours catching up with my daughter.  Yesterday I slept, deadheaded flowers, tidied a bit and opened my SU boxes.  Yipee - Christmas in July!  Oh, and went to see the last Harry Potter movie with Allison last night.

Today I cleaned up in my stamping room and picked one set to put together and use for today's post.  I chose the sketch from Just Add Ink and the colours are from a blog I've been following for a little while, but hadn't done any challenges yet - My Create, Ink.  The colours for this week are - Perfect Plum, Riding Hood Red, and Lucky Limeade.  When I saw to floral colours and a leaf colour I just had to pick this new Hostess Set - Faith in Nature.  I can't wait to use the pear that is part of the set too.

I also got to use some of the new Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon - Love it!!!!

Hope your summer is going well - it was a bit hard to take off directly after school was over - left a lot of things undone at home which have to be done now - but it's all good.  Puttering with the jobs and eating meals on the deck in the sunshine.  Can't ask for more!!!

Thanks for stopping by!  Joan

Natural Birthday

Good Monday Morning -
I am planning on having a Birthday Card Camp at the end of the month and this is one of the projects. I love how the images from "Nature's Nest" turn out. The etching is so wonderful. I am not the best colourer - but I look forward to working with these images more.
The base of the card is Mellow Moss with a layer of So Saffron which has been distressed along the edges - although it doesn't show up much in the photo. I had thought of using the new Satin Ribbon (from the new All Occasions Catalogue), but decided that a strip of black paper would work better for the card camp. The ribbon is wonderful though - so I'll be using it soon. I sponged Ballet Blue ink around the edges of the Top Note and decided the Curly Label Punch matches pretty well.

Well, this will be posted as I'm getting ready for school. I'm looking forward to music classes that don't centre around a Christmas concert! The kids were fantastic though - I'm always in awe of what they can do. I hope you are having a wonderful day.
