Holly Tidings

This week at Merry Monday we are to use holly on our creations.  The only holly I could find right now is this wee little one from "Happy Hour".  I ended up colouring the leaves in a bit because of stamping on the embossed background……and I'm annoyed with the one little smudge….especially since I was using markers to colour in the stamp!

And hey - I've started another blog with just my doodles and "art work" on it.  I create something every day - whether it's just a card, or just a doodle or both - I have to create something….so if you are interested please pop on over.  I'm posting current work and also some previous projects from time to time.
The blog address is very close to this one…..   http://jjefferycreations.blogspot.ca

Hope you Tuesday has been terrific!  Thanks for dropping by.

I can be Me...

Pulled out a stamp set I have rarely used for this week's Friday Mashup.  Whenever I see cards using this set I like them - and yet I keep forgetting to pull it out myself.

This week's mashup is to use the sketch and/or add splatters to our projects.  I love splatters and I used Shelli's technique again….such an easy process if you have the little pieces of glue dot paper left hanging around.  Here is the sketch….

Hope your day is full of people who accept you the way you are.  I sure am thankful for the people who "get" me.  Thanks for dropping by!

Elliot's Birthday Card

I created this card for my grandson's birthday party today - he will be turning 2 on Wednesday.  To create the greeting I wanted in the word bubble, I inked up the words on two different stamps from the "Just Sayin'" set and used the Stamp-a-ma-Jig to line them up.  The number 2 is from the retired Timeless Type JR. Sizzlits set.

The card was made to match the cake his mom made him -

Hope you are having a wonderful day - stay warm as best you can if you're in my neck of the woods!
Thanks for visiting,

Lovely Eastern Elegance

Happy Sunday Stamps......Kathya has a wonderful sketch for us today - I love the horizontal banners she's got us using!
I decided to move away from seasonal colours for this sketch - I've been so busy getting ready for Holiday classes that I felt I needed to change the pace up a bit.

I'm not really a yellow person, and I'm not really a grey person - but I do love the Eastern Elegance DSP!  I was pleasantly surprised with the gorgeous effects of embossing the image from Lovely Romance - It's just so elegant - although I guess the shiny silver embossing doesn't really come through in the photo.

Here is Kathya's sketch - be sure to check out the Sunday Stamps Blog too - the design team has come up with some wonderfully inspirational pieces - I'm so lucky to be working with such a talented group of women!  Once you've created your project, be sure to share it with us so we can take a peak.

Hope your day is going well - thanks for visiting.

Wishi Washi

Oh what a fabulous set of bright colours we have today at Sunday Stamps - Kathya is getting us ready for summer!
Today I used my new Gingham wheel to create the base of the card.  That's right - I have not matting - one layer (except for the salutation) - Pretty surprised with myself.  Anyway - when I rolled the first yellow strip at the top, I "accidentally" tore the image - not quite sure how, but I was able to duplicate it with the Sahara Sand and Melon Mambo stripes.  So, because it looked like washi tape that had been torn, I decided to add some of our new Gingham Garden Washi Tape to add a bit of difference.
I've used the  new Chalk Talk set for the greeting - I can't wait to get the framelits that match this set so I don't have to fussy cut the pieces anymore.

Hope you play along with us this week - check out what the rest of the Design Team has come up with - not everyone create cards this week - so much fun!

Have a super Sunday!  Thanks for stopping by,
Joan

Mocha Christmas

Well - this card certainly suits the weather here today.  When I was greeting the children at the door this morning, I had a parent ask me how the Christmas concert was coming along.  I told him it was cancelled due to weather.  Yikes!

Anyway - I love monochromatic cards, and I love shades of brown - so today we have a mocha sort of Christmas card for Merry Monday.

I'm off to make some chili for dinner and then hunker down with some crafting.
If you live in Alberta - hope you're staying warm.  If you have green grass and blossoms - I'm jealous!
But it will come eventually.
Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Bootday

This morning I'm sharing the card I created for my daughter's birthday, which was yesterday.  Twenty-two years old - my how time flies.  She recently discovered this stamp set when she came to Regionals with me and so we got the cowboy boots for her.  She also loves chevron, purple and glitter....so it all works perfectly.

I cut out one of the boots and raised it with dimensionals.  The stars on the boots have been covered with Tombow Glue and sprinkled with a glitter combination that Allison and I had created for another project years ago.  (Gotta love those little brads and buttons containers to keep things available for the future.
You can't notice in the photo but I've used the Silver Dazzle Marker to add a bit of silver pizzazz to the boots.  Finally, the rhinestones on the greeting have been coloured with purple sharpie.

Hope you have something to kick your heels up about today.  Thanks for taking the time to stop by to visit.

Happy Day Birds

Good Morning - This one is for the birds this morning - Allison said she heard some geese yesterday, and I thought I heard a robin - we'll see.

I pulled out my Aviary for this card - haven't used it nearly enough since I bought it and they are such fun little birds.

The sketch is from Hand Stamped Sentiments.

Hope you have a fabulous day - sheesh - it's the middle of the week already.
Thanks for stopping by -

Lobster Trap

When I first saw this By the Tide set in the Spring Catalogue I knew I wanted it so I had the lobster for scrapbooking our trips to the Maritimes.  It's taken me this long to get it though.....and I'm loving it.  What a great set for masculine cards and memories.

The colours I've used are Night of Navy, Pool Party and Cherry Cobbler.
I oh-so-carefully used one of the Oval Framelits to cut out part of the lobster so that his antennae stuck out....really, I just didn't want that big an oval on the page. I had seen demonstrators partially cut before - but hadn't tried it myself.  It is a bit nerve racking!

The Soda Pop top has been squished through the Big Shot before I  adhered the anchor image and the anchor image was stamped onto the Natural Cotton Ribbon in both Pool Party and Cherry Cobbler.
The sketch is from Freshly Made Sketches this week.

I hope your mid week was great and your raring to get to the weekend.
Thanks for stopping by to visit.

Oh Hello

I guess I can tell when report card time rolls around - I don't get to create as much in my craft room.  I'm now pulling some new cards together for in home workshops...click the link on the sidebar for my Calendar of Events to see which dates I still have open for you to host your class.

My card today uses almost all the elements from the "Oh Hello" set.  I purchased it as a bundle so I had the Oval Framelits to use on this awesome chevron oval image.
I've also combined most of the 2012-14 In Colours on this card.  For the little "flags" attached to the oval, I used one of the  "Bitty Banners" framelits and simply folded it in half.
I coloured the flower stamp with marker and stamped the image three times without reinking it.

Hope you've had a chance to do a bit of stamping today.  Thanks for dropping by.

Oh Hello

Welcome to this week's Sunday Stamps Challenge - this week Melissa has an awesome colour combination for us.

These colours are right up my alley...I love all three of them!  They spoke "masculine" to me initially, but they really don't have to be.  I decided to use the new "Oh Hello" set with a piece of DSP from "Parker's Patterns" in the Occasions Catalogue.  It was surprising that I didn't have any Soft Suede ribbon - so I went with the Marina Mist and spruced up the corner with a trio of darker embellishments.

The sketch for this card came from Freshly Made Sketches.  I can always count on them to  provide inspiration when I'm in a crunch.  Soooooo much to do this weekend.....sooooo happy for the inspirational blogs out there!

If you're looking for some inspiration in using Melissa's colours this week, make sure you check out the Sunday Stamps Challenge Blog because there are some stunning cards from the rest of the Design Team!

Merry Monday Chickadee

I haven't used this chickadee for along time - I don't even think he came out to play during this past holiday season - so he's gearing up for 2013!  The sketch from Merry Monday was clean and simple and once I decided on the chickadee it really didn't take me long to decide on the rest - which is a good thing on a busy evening.  I used watercolour paper for the base of the chickadee using the aquapainter to colour him in.
Stamp Set - Beautiful Season
Paper - Very Vanilla,  Be of Good Cheer DSP, Watercolour Paper
Ink - Black Staz-On, Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Soft Suede, Sahara Sand, So Saffron, Basic Gray
Tools - Decorative Label Punch, Aqua Painter
Embellishments - Natural Trim, Designer Vintage Faceted Buttons, Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine, Dimensionals

Here's one of my favorite mandalas in my altered book.  I sponged the entire page with Tempting Turquoise before drawing the mandala and I coloured in the spots with our white gel pen.  Let me say - I think our gel pens really are the best.  I have the most success with them!

I'm off to do more arting and crafting.  I'm almost ready to create the cover for this little book.  I'm a bit scared about it - but ya gotta jump in.

Hope your week is off to a great start.  Thanks for stopping by.

Postage En Francais

I got up with the birds this morning - my eyes popped open at 6:15 and would not stay shut no matter how hard I tried - so I got up and finished the days' challenge post before 9:00.  Which I guess indicates that it took me about 2.5 hours to create this card.

I had tried some emboss resist for the central piece - but that didn't work at all...not Artichoke enough.  I've combined Postage Due and Artistic Etchings for the centre piece.  I love the Postage Due set since I've always had a love for stamps.

The challenges incorporated in todays card are - Dynamic Duos - using River Rock and Always Artichoke.  The camera didn't pick up the River Rock very well; it looks more Crumb Cake!
The sketch is from Splitcoast for this week.

It's a gorgeous Saturday, and since my side of the garage is empty because my son borrowed the van to take the family camping - I just may clean the garage.  It's an annual job that I hate doing, but am always satisfied with when I'm finished.

Hope you get something finished satisfactorily today.  Thanks for stopping by here for a visit.
