Positive & Negative Hi

I finally got around to playing with the Thinlits Label Card Die - fun fun fun...!  I created two cards using the positive and negative pieces.  And I'm sorry you can see that the light in my stamping room was different between yesterday and today!

First I used the die on the 6 x 5.5 piece of cardstock which they give the instructions for.  I used the punched out "hi" and the largest arrow in the set along with the label and "i heart u" die for the flipside of the label.

For the second card, I used a piece of 8.5 x 5.5 cardstock and shaved off 1/16 from the long edge so that it fit into the die easily.....I slipped the paper under the label section making sure that it the righthand end of the paper rested OVER the die so it wouldn't get cut.

Because the paper still received pressure from going through the Big Shot - there is a "score line" available to fold the flap into your card giving extra space to write messages.....

So - when I created the second card, I used the "negative" space from the "hi" with a piece of Island Indigo underneath.  I stamped the front of the flap
and decorated the inside a bit - still leaving space for writing inside the card.

I do love these thinlits  - especially all the little bits that are included with each.

To get yours you can shop at my on-line store, use this weeks Hostess Code   (UDFPW9MK), and I will send you three cards using the Thinlits dies.  Woo Hoo!   The Hostess Code and this offer are good until September 14.

Don't forget today is MDS download day too!
Hope your Tuesday is Terrific!

Puzzling

Howdy, Howdy - just a quick post before I run to work.
This is one of the cards I'll be doing at my technique class next month.  I went onto Splitcoast Stamper's Tutorial section to see if I could find any new techniques that I hadn't done, and came across the "Puzzle Piece Resist" technique.
If you're not able to attend my technique class on March 8th - HERE is the link to the tutorial.

Gotta run - Hope you have a fabulous Thursday.
Thanks for stopping by - Joan

Postage En Francais

I got up with the birds this morning - my eyes popped open at 6:15 and would not stay shut no matter how hard I tried - so I got up and finished the days' challenge post before 9:00.  Which I guess indicates that it took me about 2.5 hours to create this card.

I had tried some emboss resist for the central piece - but that didn't work at all...not Artichoke enough.  I've combined Postage Due and Artistic Etchings for the centre piece.  I love the Postage Due set since I've always had a love for stamps.

The challenges incorporated in todays card are - Dynamic Duos - using River Rock and Always Artichoke.  The camera didn't pick up the River Rock very well; it looks more Crumb Cake!
The sketch is from Splitcoast for this week.

It's a gorgeous Saturday, and since my side of the garage is empty because my son borrowed the van to take the family camping - I just may clean the garage.  It's an annual job that I hate doing, but am always satisfied with when I'm finished.

Hope you get something finished satisfactorily today.  Thanks for stopping by here for a visit.

Stamping Withdrawl Finally Overcome

Well, I finally got into my stamping room today.  We arrived home from a holiday on Tuesday night and I spent a couple hours catching up with my daughter.  Yesterday I slept, deadheaded flowers, tidied a bit and opened my SU boxes.  Yipee - Christmas in July!  Oh, and went to see the last Harry Potter movie with Allison last night.

Today I cleaned up in my stamping room and picked one set to put together and use for today's post.  I chose the sketch from Just Add Ink and the colours are from a blog I've been following for a little while, but hadn't done any challenges yet - My Create, Ink.  The colours for this week are - Perfect Plum, Riding Hood Red, and Lucky Limeade.  When I saw to floral colours and a leaf colour I just had to pick this new Hostess Set - Faith in Nature.  I can't wait to use the pear that is part of the set too.

I also got to use some of the new Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon - Love it!!!!

Hope your summer is going well - it was a bit hard to take off directly after school was over - left a lot of things undone at home which have to be done now - but it's all good.  Puttering with the jobs and eating meals on the deck in the sunshine.  Can't ask for more!!!

Thanks for stopping by!  Joan
