Gone for a bit

I'm very disappointed not to have gotten into my stamping room this past week - I was just completely bagged....and now I won't be in it for a while because of spring break.

I'm heading to Vancouver Island with my husband's Men's Chorus - I'll be a groupie all week. When I return I'll be sending out my newsletter about upcoming April workshops...so stay posted and have a wonderful week!

Busy Weekend

Had a fairly busy weekend - Birthday Card Stamp-a-Stack and then a drumming workshop yesterday after church which was AWESOME! Then I had to spend the afternoon cleaning up after the stamp-a-stack......so......
Today I am sharing with you a birthday project - photo tin - my daughter created for one of her friends.
I'll be in my room creating this afternoon after school. Hope you have a fantastic Monday.
Thanks for stopping by.

Here's the story:
In November (yeah, that long ago), my mother asked if I would make a replacement for the Christmas decoration I had given her a couple of years ago. It was done in SU Christmas colours and papers and said "JOY". My mother has kept it out on her bookshelf ever since, but asked (in November) if I could make her another one without the Christmas Colours......
So here it is.
As you can tell from the colour scheme, I made it a week or so ago; around the same time I was working on the "Framed Tiles" and the inserts for the Simply Adorned necklace.

Yipee Horray it's Friday!
Thanks for stopping by! - Joan

Candles and Cake

Just a quick post this evening...sort of running around with my head cut off. Getting ready for this weekend's Birthday stamp-a-stack, getting ready to help a bride with invitations, and helping the daughter with a gift for a friend. But it's all good and I know everything will lend well.

So - I made this card earlier in the week - I can't honestly remember if it was for a challenge or not - I usually write them down - oh well. I'm enjoying this flower die.....makes making flowers easier for me.

Suppose I should have made a green card for St. Patrick's Day - ah well. Now I guess I'd better figure out what I'm going to wear to school tomorrow that's green. My how life can be filled with interesting dilemmas.

Hope you're dealing well with whatever life throws your way - thanks for taking the time to stop by. Joan

I was on a roll this afternoon - got three challenges included in this card....
Splitcoast Colour Challenge - Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Baja Breeze, Neutral
Just Add Ink - Sketch
Random Amusing Challenge - Using more than one punch or die cut

Hope you are enjoying warmer temperatures - I'm loving the sun, especially later in the evening. It shines so nicely in my stamping room.

Paisley Mojo

Yeah.....I'm still working with the Paisley Petals Paper! I've spent so much time with the paper though that I've forgotten about the stamp set that came along with them.

I used the Mojo Monday Sketch for today's card - I have another card in mind for this sketch too. I just limited myself to the one this evening. I'm getting to the point that there are so many different things that I want to do, that I'm going to end up feeling overwhelmed and just decide not to do anything. So dangerous!!!! Small goals....small goals!

Hope your Mojo stayed true today - Thanks for stopping by! Joan

Paisley Birthday Wishes

Another busy Sunday afternoon - I love it! I've been full of creativity today - my first creative venture was reinventing a descant this morning in choir - it worked - but it wasn't what I was suppose to sing! Good thing the director is my husband! LOL

I used more of the Paisley Petals paper this afternoon using the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge from The Sweetest Thing. The "scallop" around the outside of the circle was created with 1/2 inch circles. The Flower is one of the Paper Daisies which I used Cherry Cobbler re-inker and my aqua-painter on. I love how it turned out. I guess I didn't really follow the sketch exactly because I don't have a central piece in the middle - but the greeting is close.

I also worked on these two little inserts for the Simply Adorned frame. I'll put it together with the baubles and take a picture for another day.

I have to secretly start working on a project for my daughter - She's not out of the house very much lately, so it may be difficult to stamp with her here. She often comes to see what I'm up to or just to lay down on the floor in my room. Oh well, I'll just have to figure out a sneaky strategy!

Hope your Sunday has been marvelous. Thanks for stopping by! Joan

Paisley Get Well

Happy Saturday!!!
Today I've used the Sweet Stop Sketch for the basis of my card which incorporates some of the upcoming Paisley Petals DSP. I love the colours and the designs.
I'm heading back to my stamping room - gotta get ready for a Stamp-a-Stack next weekend, finish a project, and begin a couple others.

Hope you have a productive weekend! Thanks for stopping by! Joan

Flowery Wishes

I usually stick to a sketch to the letter - but I moved things around a bit for this Splitcoast Sketch Challenge. To be totally honest - there was a tiny tear in the paper in the corner so I HAD to place the flower there. This is the first time I've used this flower die - I like the way the petals layer together.
I got the new Sneak Peak "Spring is Blossoming" promotion pieces in the mail today; so I used the one of the "Four Frames" stamps for the label.

I got my report cards all finished at school today - so that's one big job out of the way. WoooHooo. That will mean more play time this weekend with the new DSP ! Woo Hoo!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by for a visit!

Teddy Revisits Color Dare #99

Happy Hump Day!
I'm so glad it's Wednesday...the week is going well, and I'm gearing up for getting report cards completed. Pretty soon, it will be Spring Break! Woo Hooo!!!
Today we're re-posting the #99 Color Dare, so I decided to quickly put together another card using the colours -
Marina Mist
Cherry Cobbler
Basic Grey

This is the last Color Dare Challenge card for this round - I've been creating with this fantastic group of women for the past 6 months - it's hard to believe how fast time flies. I've learned new things and made new friends - so the time was very well spent!
Please take the time to visit the Design Teams' Blogs to see what they created for this week....

I've incorporated the SU-Only Challenge which was to use a favorite retired set. Initially I thought this would be difficult, as I do have a number of favorite retired sets. However, I'm a sucker for stuffed animals, and I do love "My Favorite Teddy" - so he got to come out to play and wish someone a Happy Birthday. I always did love the word font that went with this set too!

Have an enjoyable middle of the week - Thanks for stopping by - Joan

Spring Mojo

I can't believe it has taken me so long to get into this package of paper....I LOVE it! I wasn't too sure about this silouette....but I guess she's okay too. I like the other pieces in the set - but I've seen some fantastic cards using this happily skipping girl - so I thought I 'd give it a try. She worked pretty well for yesterday's Mojo Monday sketch.

Hope your Monday was fantastic and you're working your way into a terrific Tuesday. Thanks for stopping by! Joan

From Card to Wall

At our Extravaganza in January we created a wonderful "tiled" card and I said then that I would like to recreate it for my wall... so that's what I did on yesterday. It was tons of fun! Following is a photo of the original card and then a close-up of each tile. Thanks for stopping by!

Casing the Pro

I spent all of yesterday, Saturday, recreating a project which I saw on Shelli Gardner's Blog (So Shelli) from back in December. It was a gift that they were giving to the TODAY show people - a tin filled either with cards, for the women, or Utah carmels, for the men. I loved the look of the box and the different cards inside - because of their simplicity - which is something that I sometimes have a hard time with. I wanted to create the gift - but not having all of the stamp sets that Shelli does - I ended up with variations that I am happy with. Instead of using a papier-mache box, I opted for a CD tin - which I still have a number of. I do believe I would like to make this into a class for my stampers.
Here's what I ended up with. You can see Shelli's original by linking through the sentence above.

Tin Front

The original of the card above used totally different stamp sets - I don't have any nice bird silouettes - but I do have the wonderful punch!!!

Again, the original card had a silouette of a swallow cut out and attached.....I used my Beautiful Wings Embosslit die.

What a fantastic idea this is for using up those little scraps you end up with from cutting for previous projects!!!! I've done this on purpose for a scrapbook page, but never on a card - Love it!

I had tons of fun recreating these. Now I think I'm better prepared for my Sunday project! Thanks for stopping by for a visit - Joan

Sale-a-Bration Card

I absolutely love this Sale-a-bration set. Too bad it will never make it into the catalogue....which is a good reason to earn it for free!!!!!

I've used it exclusively on this card to meet the challenge over at SUO Challenges this week which was to use a SAB set. I've also incorporated the Color Throwdown Colors for this week which were Not Quite Navy, Pink Pirouette and Baja Breeze.

I SERIOUSLY plan on getting some stuff created in the stamp room this weekend.....I just can't let myself get distracted with other things!!!!

Hope your weekend is well planned....thanks for stopping by! Joan

Paper - Whisper White, Pink Pirouette, Not Quite Navy, Elegant Soiree DSP, Blueberry Crisp DSP

Plane Big Wish

Happy Friday!!! I don't have students today, but I do have to do some "Professional Development". I'm not sure what's planned for us....but I'm hoping it's useful.

Today I'm sharing one of the cards I'll be doing at my upcoming Birthday Stamp-a-Stack. I've stamped this marvelous little plane in the middle of the card and then kept stamping the image with whatever ink was left.

I'm so loving the Neutrals Patterns Paper - love having the neutrals grouped together with their own stuff!!!!

I hope you have fun plans for this weekend....Thanks for stopping by! Joan

Color Dare Wednesday

Things have been pretty busy around here what with a Young Author's Conference that I organize volunteers for and Parent Teacher interviews....sometimes life just gets in the way of stamping - it's so wrong.

HOWEVER - I do have my Color Dare card for you today - and it's a cool combo once again!

Basic Grey
Marina Mist
Cherry Cobbler

I had scraps of this combo sitting on my desk for a couple of days and they just kept looking like a masculine birthday card - and I kept seeing "elephant". So....I've created what could very well be a masculine card - if I took the bow off. The sketch is from this week's Mojo Monday - and I know two women who love elephants....so it's all good. (However, they are older than 12 - so I used re-positionable adhesive for the number section).

I look forward to seeing what creations you come up with using this color combination - remember to link a your creation to The Color Dare Challenge Blog; and if you post to a public gallery please use CD99 as your tag.

Now here are the links to see what the other members of the Design Team have come up with this week...
