Happy Graduation

Good Grief - I forgot to do any embossing on this card I created this morning for the Friday Mashup    and  Freshly Made Sketches.  I think I was so focused on wanting to do something for the challenge, that I forgot the mashup part.

The Friday Mashup is to create a graduation card and/or a card with some sort of embossing.  I think I was probably excited about using the Washi tape on a card too - I'm so excited that we carry it now.

Don't forget that May is the perfect time to work on and print off some of your MDS projects.... Get 25% off from May 1 - June 15!!!!

Get more details at my website  HERE

Hope you have a fantastic weekend - I'm looking forward to do a bunch of stamping and arting.
Thanks for stopping by,

Royal Birthday Mash Up

I got to use my new "Creative Elements" set today for two Challenges.  I used the sketch from Stampin' Royalty and the colours and theme from The Friday Mashup!
  • use the colours Not Quite Navy, Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler, and Sahara Sand
  • create a Birthday Card
I created the background piece first stamping the initial image with the Not Quite Navy and then colouring sections in.  I used ink with an aqua painter on regular paper, so some of the outside edges bled a bit, but that just added some age to the piece.

For the flower I stamped the image on watercolour paper three times using the Cherry Cobbler and then used a blender pen to pull colour into the open sections.  I cut all the flowers out getting progressively smaller and layered them with dimensionals (you can't really see the dimension in this photo).  I'm not altogether happy with the way the flower turned out.  There's almost too much colour - I'll have to play with it a bit.

The centre strip of Sahara Sand was put through the Big Shot with the new Stripes embossing folder - but it's hard to see the embossing in the picture.

It was a good day for stamping because it's been moving between misting and pouring all day.  Hope your day has been productive too.

Baby Color Dare

Today's Color Dare is:
Marina Mist
So Saffron
Certainly Celery

When I pulled the colours together I immediately thought of a baby card.  I haven't used this roller much, so thought it would be the ticket!  That tiny tag punch is perfect for a couple of the extras from the Baby Bundle Set.

If you take up this Dare please link your creation to the Color Dare Challenge Blog and if you post to a public gallery use CD107 for this week.

A Fistful of Balloons

Wow, I can't believe I managed to create a single layer card, and it wasn't even part of a challenge. The challenge I did meet is from this week's Friday Mashup! This is a blog I've just recently discovered and decided to try the challenge.... to create a card for kids, or use the color combination of Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight and Real Red....OR Mash those two challenges together in one card.

As soon as I placed the scraps of color on my desk I saw balloons, and pulled out this stamp because I just love the long swirling strings!

I stamped the balloon image on watercolor paper to colour in the balloons - and for a final Mash-Up - used all four colours on one balloon - of course they bled a bit and created a green in there, but I guess that's what happens sometimes when you mash things together.

I can't believe the weekend is here! I hope I can get some cleaning done and some stuff set aside for the community wide garage sale.
Have a terrific Weekend - Thanks for stopping by!

Plane Big Wish

Happy Friday!!! I don't have students today, but I do have to do some "Professional Development". I'm not sure what's planned for us....but I'm hoping it's useful.

Today I'm sharing one of the cards I'll be doing at my upcoming Birthday Stamp-a-Stack. I've stamped this marvelous little plane in the middle of the card and then kept stamping the image with whatever ink was left.

I'm so loving the Neutrals Patterns Paper - love having the neutrals grouped together with their own stuff!!!!

I hope you have fun plans for this weekend....Thanks for stopping by! Joan

Snowman Christmas

Today's card incorporates two challenges..

Sweet Stop Sketch - Sketch
SCS Inspiration Challenge 260 - The Country Porch - I chose the dessert plates, shown in the thumbnail, from this wonderful "country" homestyle online store.

Of course, once I selected the plates, I realized that I really didn't have any snowmen in my current stamp sets - how on earth did that happen???? So - I went into my retired stash and pulled out Holiday Tag Team for this cute little guy!

I love this sketch and the paper I used could just as easily fit into the challenge over at Daring Cardmakers - using spots and stripes this week. Sock Monkey already entered that though...

Well, today is the Grey Cup Game here in Canada. So, practically the whole country is watching. My husband is at the game - having left the house with three pairs of pants on, three shirts, a heavy duty jacket, blanket, sleeping bag, gloves and mitts. I'm pretty sure he'll be warm enough. Especially since we've been blessed with a windless day. I will be in my stamping room - didn't get the scrapbooking done yesterday so have it set out ready to get to today.....I'm beginning to think I'm a bit ADD. In any case, I hope the right team wins.

Thanks for taking the time to drop by! Joan
