A Happy Soul

Today's card was for the Color Throwdown.  I've used Rococco Rose and Highland Heather; colouring in the Flowering Foils Specialty DSP.  I kept the card fairly simple since I wanted the paper to be showcased.  The sentiment is from Tasteful Textures.  I think it's important, during this time, to make sure we do something that makes us happy.  Whether it's crafting or snuggled on the couch reading a book....by yourself or with loved ones, if you are home with children.  I've been doing both of those things so my soul is pretty happy right now amidst the concern of COVID-19.

I've been doing a lot of scrapbook pages lately and so have missed some deadlines for linking to challenges.  The card above and the one below fall into that category.  I had fun doing the scrapbook pages, so it's all good.

Also don't forget that today, March 31, is the last day of Sale-a-bration.  Thank you to all of you who participated by placing an order on my website.  If you've been putting off placing your order, do it today so you can earn some FREE stuff.

That's all for now

Blue Poppy Birthday

I can finally post this card.  I made it near the middle of the month for my daughter to give it to a friend of hers whose birthday is today.  My daughter's request was for me to make a blue card.

I've used the Peaceful Moments Bundle.  The paper for both the background and the leaves is the Noble Peacock Specialty DSP.  The poppies are made out of our Vellum Cardstock and Whisper White Cardstock.  I've seen many cards made this way and I've loved them.  The tag for the sentiment is from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.  I've used this little tag quite a bit.

No challenge card for today, just a card made with a purpose and lots of love.
Hope you're getting some loving crafting in.

Poppy Hugs Prayers and Love

When I saw the sketch challenge at Just Add Ink, I knew I would be using some DSP from the Peaceful Poppies.  I love how the sketch has different sized and shaped.... shapes.  I've made mine a bit bigger than those in the sketch - but it's all good.  It's funny how sometimes I go off the sketch and use different shapes, and sometimes I stick right to what's been given.  I guess it just depends on where the creativity is that day.
This is a great way to use up scraps of DSP - such a quick and easy card.  I've added some Peaceful Poppy Sequins just to add a bit of bling.

I focused on my son's scrapbook today; doing some punch art Cookie Monsters for the layout.  I'm keeping thing fairly simple as I go through these pages because I have limited supplies right now....can't just run out to a scrapbook store to get themed items.  Makes things interesting and fun.

That's it for now
Hope You're hanging in there,

Sweet Perfume Bottles

Today I'm doing a card for TGIF Challenges!  Their challenge is to take inspiration  from a photo of the Best Dressed Suite.  You could focus on colours, designs of the cards in the photo....you didn't have to use products from the suite necessarily. I don't have any of the suite except for the DSP which I liked because of the floral designs.  I just didn't think I would get enough use out of the products - as cute as they are.

So, for my card I took a piece of DSP that had a collection of perfume bottles on it.  Now, I love the old fashioned little perfume bottles.  I remember smelling my aunt's perfumes on her dresser when I was a little girl.  I've fussy cut out the bottles and placed them on a shelf. The background paper is also from this package of DSP.  The sentiment for the card is from Honey Bee which I thought went with the scent of the perfumes.

I've still been trying to do a scrapbook page each day.  I'm not focusing on one particular book that I have so that every book gets a little bit done over time.  Today, I've focused on my daughter's book when she was a baby - she is turning 29 next month.
I still have some of the baby Scrapbooking kits that we used to sell through Stampin'Up!  So for today's page I've combined a little of the past with a little of the present.  The bunnies are from Fable Friends.  I've coloured them in with Stampin' Blends, fussy cut him out and popped them up with dimensionals.

That's it for today - short and sweet

Cow's it Going?

I'm enjoying using the Flowering Foils Specialty DSP - you can do so many things with the different designs.  For a previous card I coloured in the flowers on this particular sheet, and for today I've coloured in the background using a black Stampin' Blends marker.  In hindsight, I could have gone in and coloured all the centres of the flowers to match the one that Bessie is holding.

I've kept the card clean and simple for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge this week.  I kind of like all that black in the background.....not embosssed or anything; which is out of my usual creating box.  That's why I love challenges.

Hope you are doing well

Butterfly Hugs

Today's card is for the Global Design Project challenge this week which is to "CASE the Designer".  I decided to CASE the layout of Connie's card.

I've used a piece of Purple Posy as the base of my card.  What a gentle purple!  The floral strip is from the "B" side of a sheet of Best Dressed DSP.  I don't have any of the Best Dressed Suite, but I did like a lot of the floral designs on the reverse side of the DSP.

The butterflies and sentiment are from Positive Thoughts.  The butterfly colours are pulled from the flowers - Pretty Peacock, Mint Macaron and Blackberry Bliss.  I took a blender pen to pull colour into the centres of the wings.  And, once again, I've used the swirly circle from the Painted Label Dies.

I've continued scrapbooking family pictures.  This time I've focused on my husband's family; him and his siblings taken in the summer of 1979.
I'm enjoying using up some of my Stampin'Up! paper that I've been holding onto. And my Big Shot has been getting quite a workout through this whole process.  I am mildly regretting having gotten rid of all my chipboard....but only a bit.

That's it for today.

Floral Get Well

I'm honestly not sure about this card!  When I'm not focusing on clean and simple I create it.....when I am focusing on keeping the card clean and simple I seem to lose it. Oh well.  It's all good.  The card is for the Spring Flowers Clean and Simple Challenge at The Paper Players this week.

I used the First Frost stamp set because I was looking for flowers that I haven't used in a while.  I like the hanging vines and that's where my creativity got locked in.  I've used Gorgeous Grape for the flowers, Old Olive for the vines and Pear Pizzazz Vellum for the other greenery.

Since I'm staying inside for the most part these days, I've decided to do some scrapbooking in addition to card making.  I'm trying to get some more "historical" family pages done so I'm dipping my hand into my photos and whatever I pull out gets done.  I think I'll jump around a bit and do some current pages too so that I don't get behind (hahaha) in doing them.

Hope you are able to keep yourself busy and creative during these crazy times.
Thanks for dropping by,
Joan

Magnolia Hello

Hello to you.  Today I've worked on the sketch challenge from Fab Friday.  It's a simple sketch and I was able to use this magnolia which I had sitting on my desk.  That's the second time I've used up something from previous projects - it's a good thing.  I don't keep EVERY scrap of paper I create, but I'm glad I using up the ones I do before I get frustrated with them hanging around.

My background is Mossy Meadow which has been embossed with the Basket Weave 3D embossing folder. I've used a piece of the Magnolia Lane DSP and coloured in the magnolia with Stampin' Blends.  A quick and easy card....

...for a quick and easy post.
I hope you are having a good day

Monocrhromatic Thank You

I really enjoy making monochromatic projects.  I sometimes have difficulty deciding what colours to use or which colours go together well.  With a monochromatic project you just have to think about what colour you want to use.  I've picked greens this time to go along with the Color Throwdown this week.  And, of course, St. Patrick's Day is coming up.

I've taken a piece of Flowering Foils and coloured in the petals using three greens - Pear Pizzazz, Granny Apple Green and Old Olive.  I've had this circle swirl sitting on my desk for quite a while from some previous project weeks ago.  I stamped the Thank You from Peaceful Moments and then wove the satin ribbon through the swirls.

A quick and easy card for sure, if you don't mind the colouring.
Thanks for taking time to visit.
Take care,
Joan

Honey Bee Hello

I'm back to using the Honey Bee products from the Mini Catalogue today for the Challenge at Global Design Project which is a theme of Flutter and Fly.

I've used the back and front of one sheet of the Golden Honey DSP (which unfortunately is no longer available).  I cut thin strips (1/2") and adhered them to the edge of my background piece.  I also coloured in all the little flowers to add a bit more colour to the card.  I used the honeycomb die with some gold glimmer paper and attached it to the top of the bee hive.  Lastly, I stamped and die cut the little bee and cut out a hello from a stamped scrap piece of cardstock.  The bee hive and the bee have been raised with dimensionals.

Just a cute little card to brighten someones day.
Hope you are healthy where you are.
Good thing we have our craft rooms to keep us busy during this crazy time.

Hold on to Hope

Today I thought I'd reach for something besides plain cardstock.  I'd forgotten I'd had this Noble Peacock Specialty DSP.....can't hoard it - gotta use it.  The layout today comes from Sunday Stamps sketch.

I've pulled out the Hold on to Hope stamp set, which is one I haven't used very much.  I was looking for some sort of flourish to use in the circle area of the sketch.  The swirly circles were added at the last to provide a base for the flourish, to pull in the pink from the flowers and to have a place to put my words; which I've cut apart into smaller chunks.  I'm happy with the result.  These sorts of cards can be difficult to make, but good to have on hand for when one is needed.

This challenge is open until March 20, so there's lots of time to participate.

That's it for today

Butterfly Rainbow

Today I have a butterfly rainbow to share for the challenge over at Just Add Ink, which was Just Add A Rainbow.

I sponged the piece of Flowering Foils paper with a rainbow of inks and then matched up the butterflies using the Positive Thoughts set.  I left the card without a greeting because I didn't want to block any more of the rainbow.

The colours I've used are Highland Heather, Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Real Red.  The dies for the butterflies (and the rest of the images in the set) are one of the coordinating items that came out after the stamp set did.  There are also a couple of other dies that can help with card creativity......

Another short and sweet post.
Hope you're having a good day,

Butterfly Wings

Looking to all things spring today after snow fell all day yesterday. This card is designed for the Color Throwdown where they are wanting pink, orange and blue.  My Stampin'Up! Colours are Rococo Rose, Terracotta Tile and Seaside Spray.  All from the 2019-20 In Colour Collection.

For the background, I've used one of the sheets from the Flowering Foils Specialty DSP.  This is new to the Sale-a-bration selection this month. Let me know if you haven't received your second edition of the Sale-a-bration brochure.

I must admit that the ground looks nice right now with all of the fresh snow, but I am getting a bit tired of it and long for the days when I sit on my deck, drink coffee and wait for the butterflies to flutter by.

Hope your spring is coming soon.
