Snowflakes in November

One of the best things about being a Stampin'Up! demonstrator is getting a sneak peak of the products that are coming around the corner.  I got to preorder this snowflake set and I'm having a lot of fun with it.   But, this set and other products become available on November 1 and are only available for the month.
Yesterday I used the ghosting technique (above) using all the individual snowflake available in the Snow is Glistening stamp set and topped it off with a wonderful flourish of snowflakes cut from the (scrumptious) velvet paper.
Today I splashed some blue Brusho Crystal Color onto a piece of shimmery cardstock and topped it with the largest thinlit snowflake; again cut from the velvet paper.
If you love snowflakes be sure to contact me in November to get your supplies.

That's it for today,
Thanks for stopping by.

Monochromatic Blackberry

This morning I was a bit stumped as to what to do for a card and I decided to check out Freshly Made Sketches.  I haven't done a sketch challenge in years, and it was nice to check out the sketch and then work it into my own.  I thought I'd go with the monochromatic look too with this gorgeous Frosted Floral Specialty paper.  This card was so quick and easy I think I'll use it for next month's coffee and cards.

If you are ever stumped for a card layout, check out this blog.  They always have great sketches and it's fun to see how people interpret them differently.

Have a great day.

Swirling Ghosty Leaves

Here is another card for next month's Technique Class.  I haven't demonstrated this technique, Ghosting, in a long time and it's another quick and easy one.  Again, I'm creating now, but I'll get some tutorials up closer to the time of the class - in November.

Just a short and sweet swirly post today,

Decisions, Decisions

It's always fun to sit and create when planning for a class.  However, then I end up having to make a choice.  I'm working on selecting the techniques for next month's Technique Tuesday.  The Faux Torn Paper technique is simple yet adds an interesting effect to your card - and no two cards will be exactly the same.
I don't have a tutorial for this technique yet, but I will get one up on the blog before the class takes place.
This card is a bit busier than the other, but just as effective in showing the Faux torn paper.

Which one do you prefer?
Let me know in the comments below and I'll choose from the responders to receive the card of your choice (usable) in the mail.

Hope you have a wonderful day,

Gusseted Gift Package

I'm going to be having a very busy holiday season what with being involved in 3 different craft fairs. So, there is lots of prep work to do and I'm thankful for a the quick easy ideas I can get from other people.
These little candy packages (or gift card holders) was a project I saw from Ronda Wade using our gusseted bags and a strip of DSP. Easy Peasy.

Cut a piece of Designer Series Paper 6 x 12"
Score at 4.5 and 9 inches

Cut one of the Gusseted Bags to 4.5 inches
Add Tear Tape to all four edges on both sides of the bag

Line the top of the bag up with the top of the Designer Series Paper and attach
Peel the top of the second set of  Tear Tape and fold along score line - the bag is now adhered on both sides

Fill the bag with desired candies, or you can use it for a gift card or cash gift giving

Fold down the flap along the score line and close the package with ribbon

Decorate the front of the package as desired

That's it for today.

Chocolate for Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.  I just thought I would quickly show you the table place holders that I made yesterday afternoon in preparation for this evening's dinner.  They are quick, they are easy, they can be decorated any way YOU need them to be.  I will give a tutorial the next time I make them, for sure!

As of now, my grandson is eager to tell the rest of the family that we are having chocolate for Thanksgiving dinner.  He's excited to see their reaction.  I'm eager to see how many of us will eat the chocolate before we eat the turkey.  A chocolate appetizer sounds good to me!

Hope your Thanksgiving weekend is full of blessings.
Thanks for stopping by,
Joan.....

Here's the wee lad and I playing dominos while Grandpa is in the kitchen preparing the turkey.
ps......in our family, the men always prepare all of the holiday dinners.  Of course, the women end up with the clean up afterward.  I try to follow close behind my husband so as not to end up with a total mess at the end of the event.  LOL.

So Grateful

Happy Thanksgiving to my friends and family - I am grateful to have you in my life.

I was happy to be able to experiment with a different Faux Linen technique this past week at a stamping event.  I know how to scratch glossy paper to create a linen look, but I hadn't heard about using tissue paper.  Super duper easy!

This card will be one of the ones featured at my Technique Class on October 16.

I hope you are able to spend time with family this
Thanksgiving Holiday weekend.
Blessings to you all
Joan

Love the Shimmer

I attended a Shimmer Paint Bingo a week or so ago to see how it was run and came away with these three cards, and a few more techniques using this product.  It's hard to see the wonderful effect in these photos, but in person, the cards are glitzed up!

For the first card we added alcohol and Shimmer Paint to a Spritz bottle and sprayed the card once everything was on.
For this card, we simply painted some Copper Shimmer Paint onto the stamped images to add some glitz and dimension.
Finally, the Shimmer Paint was sponged directly onto the stamp before stamping onto the cardstock.
All of these are quick and easy ways to add just a touch of shimmer to your creations.

When I have my own Bingo I will be providing some tutorials on how to do the techniques for the cards I create for the event.

Enjoy your day,

Joan
