Merry Mojo Monday

Ornaments are the thing this week over at the Merry Monday Christmas Challenge.  And I used the sketch from Mojo Monday this week also.

When selecting an ornament I decided to go with one that I don't use very often….in a set that I use a lot!  To get the dots on the circle, I brayered some Old Olive ink onto the embossing folder.

Now I'm off to get my hands dirty with some paint - hope you have had a wonderful day.  Thanks for stopping by for a visit.

Yippee-Skippee Monster

It's a bright and beautiful day today - but it's freeeeeezing outside!  So it's a good day to craft - even though it's subsequently freezing in my basement stamp room too!  But I found some challenges to complete - so it's all good.

I chose the colours from the Dynamic Duos and the sketch is from Mojo Monday.  I hadn't used these adorable little monsters from Monstermaniacs yet - so it was time to put them together and add some ink.  I hadn't coloured in a stamp in AGES - so it was good to pull out a blended pen to colour too!  For his little antenna I coloured two basic pearls with a black sharpie.

Now off to another project…..hope you are keeping warm and busy today  Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Summer Holidays!

Well, I got into my usual summer routine right away this morning - coffee on the deck in the sun with the daily crossword from the newspaper.  I won't be able to do that again until we get home from holiday - but that's fine!

Today's card is a combination of two challenges -
The sketch is from Mojo Monday and the colours are from Create with Connie and Mary - Real Red, Pumpkin Pie and Basic Grey.  I always get a little nervous when I see Real Red.   I thought of flowers when I put the three colour scraps on my table and so I tried doing the spreading ink technique.  Now that I actually look back at my technique card, I see that I should have used glossy white paper.  Ah well.

Have a fantabulous Saturday - I'm off to get some stamping business done while doing laundry and packing.  I want to have everything ready for our trip today so that I can enjoy Canada Day tomorrow.  Thanks for visiting.

Celebrate Mocha

Today's challenge at Create with Connie and Mary was to create a "celebrate" card and to use your favourite Designer Series Paper.  I've taken the sketch from this weeks' Mojo Monday challenge.

I fell in love with Mocha Morning as soon as I saw it in the catalogue last June.  I loved the name, the tones and the elegance.

I'm almost ready for my All Occasion Stack tomorrow - I'll probably bake some chocolate chip cookies tomorrow afternoon.  I wouldn't mind hiring Allison to do some baking again.  She did an awesome job last weekend for my Sunday afternoon tea.  She made these "Slutty Brownies" - Oh My Word - they were to die for!

HERE is the link to the recipe -
In a nutshell - Chocolate Chip Cookie dough on the bottom, Oreo Cookies layered in the middle and Brownie dough on top - all baked together.....need I say more?????

Have a marvellous end to your week.  Thanks for stopping by!

Tie Dyed Pig

I guess this may be a bit of a left over from last night .....we went to see Blue Man Group, and they are notorious for splashing/drumming paint around - so maybe this little guy was right in the thick of it!

The sketch comes from Mojo Monday and the theme is The Paper Players first for a month full of Humour.
More than anything, this paper makes me smile.  I just love the bright colours!

I'm "patiently" waiting for my daughter to arrive home from Mexico.  Her flight was delayed twice and then cancelled yesterday and delayed once today.  Once they took off though, they ended up landing in Las Vegas.  She's in the air again now, and I know she will be so, so happy to be home.  I've already got her bed turned down for her in case that's the first place she wants to go.

She is arriving home to better weather today though, so that's a plus.  Hope your day is going well.  Thanks for dropping by.

Stamp and Dash....

A quick post today, before I head off to school, which incorporates the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge and colours from Stampin' Royalty.

With the sketch I thought I would try just stamping the quadrants with the flourish from Elementary Elegance and topping it with the punched image, which is raised with dimensionals.  In the end I wasn't sure about the central piece - but I used that to incorporate the fourth Stampin Royalty colours - They are Tempting Turquoise, Lucky Limeade, Pumpkin Pie, and Crumb Cake.

One I embossed the centre piece, I flipped it and coloured in the swirls with a white gel pen.  And of course, just a little bit of bling added to each section.

Well, I'm off - hope you are having a wonderful day - thanks for stopping by!

Mucho Mojo

I ended up creating two cards using today's Mojo Monday sketch.  The Soft Suede Butterfly was my first creation with a background collage using images from Established Elegance.  It took a while to get to that point because I was dead set on using Mocha Morning paper - but it just didn't work out.  I do, however, like this final result.

The second card might be a birthday card for a friend of my Mother's.  This photo didn't turn out very well.  I used Concord Crush, and I may just do it over again using a lighter background so that the collage of images shows up better - they are the important part of this card.  I'll give it another try tomorrow.

I got my report cards done today - I told myself I had to before I got to play.  The other thing I have got to do this week is get my head around what I'm going to have the kids doing for this years' Christmas Concert.  Time will fly by once this little break is over.

Hope your mojo is working for you today.  Thanks for stopping by!

Baby Mojo Dino

I really wasn't sure until the last minute what image I was going to use on this card - but I'm glad I picked the Dino.  The sketch is the Mojo Monday sketch for the week - it was fun to work with - to decide what to use for each of the panels.  There is "suppose" to be a bow in the upper corner - but I opted out for the nest that this little guy flew from.

The colours spoke "baby" to me, so it fits with the Just Add Ink challenge this week which was "Just Add Baby".

Hope your Monday was fabulous - Thanks for stopping by!

Dino Mojo

Finally got around to using this new dinosaur set - They're just so cute; as dinosaurs go!

I've used the Mojo Monday Sketch and the colours - Not Quite Navy, Sahara Sand. Early Espresson and Certainly Celery are from Just Add Ink.

I got a number of chores done outside this morning including stripping the finish off of an old toy box my Grandfather made.  I'm planning on painting something musical on it to use in our "black and white musical basement" to store extra blankets in.  If I don't set side tracked I may sand it down tonight so I can start working on it tomorrow.

Hope you have some chores that are keeping you occupied and happy!  Thanks for visiting,

Mojo Way to Go

Way to go today - my friend Joan had her last Bell practice with one of the classes, my husband had his band concert tonight, I got some flower planted and my daughter made a frame for her friend's birthday.

I got the idea for this flower from Sandra at Sandra's Stamping Spot for THIS flower. She has given some instructions, and it was really easy. I just think I need to make a couple more and not flatten the pieces quite so much.
For the scallop along the top and bottom edges I took the new Lace Ribbon Border Punch and cut it in half down the middle. And talking of splitting things - I inked only one set of words on a "triple" stamp from the Happy Greetings stamp set from the Summer Mini
The sketch is a Mojo Monday sketch.

This is the frame that Allison made for her friend. She's also going to be making her one of the photo tins.

Well - hope your Monday was marvelous - thanks for taking time to stop by for a visit.

Overboard on so many levels....

A) This post includes 3 challenges 1) Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge, 2) Color Inspiration #158 from Stamping 411: Real Red, Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Peach Parfait and 3) CAS challenge at Splitcoast using a Play on Words.

This may not look clean and simple - but it didn't take much to make - strips of paper and punches.

B) Four different punches used: Two-Step Bird, Scallop Circle and 2 sizes of circle punches

C) Three different embossing folders - I don't think I've ever used that many on one card! The back strips were a given - I always had that planned - alternating the embossing was just an experiment I ended up liking. Once I made the layered strip across the card, I just HAD to see what happened when I put it through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice Folder! I just love how it takes the layered look away. The polka dot embossed circle was just a way of getting away from a plain piece of paper.

So - what a way to end the day. Bright and full of fun! The instruments are on the stage, everyone knows what they are SUPPOSE to do. We'll see what happens at the rehearsal Tuesday. Good thing tomorrow is Color Dare......I already know what's coming up!

Thanks for taking time to stop by for a visit.

CAS Owl

This week's Clean and Simple Challenge over at Splitcoast was to be inspired by THIS card by cindybstampin. I liked the little collage that she created in the corner and there have been many interpretations in the SCS gallery.

The colours have been incorporated from last Tuesday's Play Date Cafe.....

I controlled myself very well by not adding anything to the base of the card - no embossing, no spritzing, no distressing - hey there isn't any distressing on this card at all - WOW - that's almost as odd as me not using dimensionals on a card!!!! (The owl is raised up!)

In order to get the ribbon to go around, I punched a small hole in the "spine" of the card and ran it through.

So, I hope that you too can have a clean, simple non-stressed day! Thanks for stopping by! - Joan

Mojo Throwdown...

WooHoo, It's the weekend. I know that matters to a lot of people....Grey Cup, American Thanksgiving. I'm sort of on a perpetual weekend with this rehab....just about had enough at this point, so I'm glad that I'm managing to spend a bit more time in my stamp room!

I finally got a couple of challenges done rather than other personal stuff...gotta get back into the groove!!!!

Today's challenges.....
Mojo Monday - Sketch
Color Throwdown - So Saffron, Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry. (It's nice to get away from the fall and Christmas colors for a bit!)

We're in for some balmy weather this weekend. I've been able to get out a bit more this week into the fresh air and sunshine thanks to a wonderful friend who's agreed to be my chauffeur. I've been told by my physiotherapist that I need to wait until I have at least 90* of bend in my knee before I think about driving. Thirteen degrees to go.....gotta keep doing those exercises!!! Ughhhhh!!!!!

Anyway - thanks for stopping by - hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Stamp Set/s - Priceless, Perfect Punches
Paper - So Saffron, Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White
Inks -
So Saffron, Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, Versa Mark

Birds, Flowers and Cupcakes

I vowed I would complete a Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge and I did - on a Monday (Posted Tuesday morning). I actually love this card. I've grown accustomed to square cards so I decided to go with that design - who knows what the darling daughter would have said if I made a round card - I'll surprise her one day!!! Anyway I picked up the colours from Color Chef over at Kelly Jo's Stamp Pad - which I happened onto through The Daily Dare. The colours were Black, Cream and Green. I was skeptical until I put them together and realized how wonderful they looked. I finally opened my Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon....don't use Vanilla much so it hadn't been opened. I attached the little flowers with Crystal Effects and then added a dollop in the centres to attach the green
microbeads.

I've been trying to get to the CCEE challenge since it was set and finally finished! The challenge was to make something "Sweet". It was hard to decide at first and then I happened upon my cupcakes AND this awesome set of rhinestones just called out to be used. The sketch is from Squigglefly.

My last card is for the Featured Stamper Challenge on Splitcoast Sunday. As soon as I saw this card I knew I wanted to use it for the challenge. At first I was going to use the cornflowers from "Inspired by Nature", but these flowers caught my eye, so I thought I'd give them a try. I'm happy with how the card turned out but disappointed with the butterfly. The Tombow Glue went
on a bit too thick.

Well, I've got to get some marking done...report cards are around the corner!!!!

I hope you are having a wonderful day. Thanks for dropping by!
