Got Me a New Hat!

Happy Monday - Happy Spring Break - and Happy MDS Monday card sketch day!  Well, Beth does have a card sketch for us - but I decided to try turning it into a scrap page.
The other thing that Beth would like us to try this time is recolouring an embellishment.  I took one of the little diamond cork pieces from Sale-a-bration and recoloured them, and reproduced them.
I've never turned a card sketch into a scrap page before, I've never done that before, but I think it worked out not too badly.   It was a bit tricky picking photos that fit properly into the little flags…good thing I take scads of photos!  Never would have done that in the old days of film!

Hope you try out the challenge - check out the challenge blog for some AWESOME inspiration!  And be sure to link your creation back to the blog so we can all take a peak!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have  great day!

Take One….

I worked on one of the bags from the February Paper Pumpkin.  I will be making a couple more of these to use at workshop events for stampers to pick up their supplies from. It's nice that the Pumpkin included 5 bags.  I can use 3 for this purpose, and still have two to use as gift bags.
If you are a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, be sure to check out My Pumpkin Challenge for other inspiring ideas.

Not sure what I'll be doing this evening….prepping my wall painting, watching tv,  playing with paint. or finishing a jigsaw puzzle.  So many options - if I divide my time I could do a wee bit of each.

Hope plans pan out for you this weekend.  Thanks for stopping by!

Watercolour Easter

Yesterday's Friday Mashup was to use Daffodil Delight, Perfect Plum and Wild Wasabi with a Blender Pen or Aqua Painter to create a watercolour effect.  I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches this week also.

I have given the directions below - but I wanted to note that for the Cotton Ribbon, I used the Aquapainter and reinker, just like I did for the flower background.  I was able to deepen the colour a bit more and I found that it "soaked" into the fabric better than applying colour with a marker.

Hope you have a fabulous Saturday - I've got a workshop this afternoon and then I'm going to start    re-painting some baseboards - gotta love Spring Break!
Thanks for stopping in!

Razzleberry Plum Shoe

Just a quick post - of a card I made a couple of days ago, but haven't gotten around to posting here.
I had created it for the Dynamic Duos challenge - Rich Razzleberry, Perfect Plum and Soft Sky - but I ended up missing the deadline…..that does happen periodically.

I separated the shoe and it's sentiment using scotch tape  with I explained in THIS post.

Don't forget that Sale-a-bration is quickly coming to an end…..You have until the 31st to get FREE product with every $60 you purchase.  Get to my on-line store by clicking the icon on the left sidebar. There have been a lot of new items added to the clearance rack also!

Hope your weekend is off to a good start.  Thanks for visiting.

Volleyballs & Puddles

I'm diligently working on Elliot's 2013 book - and I'm getting things done quickly with inspiration from other people.  Heather Summers is the inspiration behind this page.  Her page centred around football - I've got volleyball going on here and I do do do wish we had a volleyball image in MDS!

So - to create my own volleyball - I simply cropped the one from the picture and used it for the centre of a couple of the circles.  Where there's a will, there's a way!

Hope you take inspiration from the people around you -
Thanks for dropping by!

Frosty Merry

Just a quick post before I head back to school for interviews.  This week's Merry Monday Challenge was Red, Grey and White…..I'm hoping Silver Foil counts as grey.

I was a wee bit messy with the Tombow when attaching the Merry to the front - little bits of glue showed under the words - so I simply sprinkled on some Dazzling Diamonds.  It looks like there is snow resting on the words.  Gotta love those Dazzling Diamonds!

Short - quick - gotta go!

Antics with Auntie

Good Monday Morning - Heidi is getting us to layer trim on her fabulous sketch this week at MDS Monday.
I went with some circle embellishments that I linked together and then layered underneath a border strip from the Big Top Birthday Kit.  I also created a frame with one of the trim pieces that I recoloured to add a bit more red to the page. Fun, fun, fun.

Hope you drop by the challenge blog to see what the rest of the design team has come up with.  There is always inspiration to be found.  We also LOVE looking at what you have created, so be sure to link your project back to the blog.

Here is Heidi's sketch - have fun!

Butterfly Dream

What a wonderful easy sketch we have from Steph this week at Sunday Stamps.  I loved putting this together!  It's an easy  way of using DSP.

Be sure to check out the awesome inspirational projects provided by the design team - and then let us see your creation.

Hope your Sunday is full of Dreams - Thanks for stopping by.

Happenings Kit

I spent the rest of this afternoon finishing up the Happenings Simply Created Card Kit that I received at Leadership.  I created 15 different cards and didn't add anything extra.  My only disappointment was that when I stamped the greetings while I was at Leadership (because I didn't have the stamp set) I didn't pay attention to the direction the flags were going.  I would have stamped them in the other direction - or at least a combination of different directions.

The Happenenings Simply Created Kit is available in the 2014 Occasions catalogue through my website.

133329 - $18.95

131459 - $10.95 (wood only)

The two together would make a great gift for someone who is starting out, or who loves making cards but just can't find the time.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me.

Pumpkin Catch-up!

After clean up my craft room (again) I got down to finishing off the cards from the February Paper Pumpkin.  I have to be honest and say I found this one a little hard to work with.  But I persevered and created 3 unique cards after I finished the prototype (shown above).

I'm not going to include the  details with the Paper Pumpkin Projects I complete.  I am still using bits and pieces from previous pumpkins.

I will make a note on this one - I added the little rhinestones with the arrows because I noticed, after I stamped, that there was a little heart at that point.  Because I hadn't noticed it earlier, and I wanted the arrows heading to the right - the heart was upside down.  Thank goodness for bling!

Hope your day is going well.  Thanks for stopping by!

One of a Kind

Well - some days ya have it…..and some days not so much.  Or maybe I'm just not sure about one layer cards.  That's what the Friday Mashup! is this week - a single layer card with a nautical theme.
I do like my school of fish though - I ended up making three masks to get the school together.

Hope you have some fun plans for the weekend.  We're babysitting this evening and I'm not sure if we'll finger paint or bake…..we'll see how things work out.

Thanks for stopping by!

Shine On...

I'm working with the Freshly Made Sketches and Colour Me! challenges together today.  I have actually been doing that a lot since both challenges come out on Wednesday - I may not get to them on that day - but I like to work them together.

The sketch is clean and simple and the colours are wonderfully subtle….Soft Sky, Pear Pizzazz, and Coastal Cabana.
I decided to paper piece the nail polish lids using the silver Foil Sheets.  I have never gotten rid of my Stampin'Up! Spritzer Tool - I love it!  That is how I added the splashes of the three colours onto the top of the matt.
To make the little bottles of nail polish shine, I've added a coating of Crystal Effects.

Hope your day is going well - we're dealing with winter again - but at this time of year you know that it won't last for long.
Thanks for stopping by to visit.

STEPS FOR MASKING UNWANTED
PORTION OF A STAMP IMAGE

1.  On the mounted stamp - put a piece of tape over the portion of the image you DO NOT want to use.

2.  Ink up your image.

3.TAKE OFF THE PIECE OF TAPE!!!  THIS STEP IS VITAL.
I'm sure there are tons of us out there who have forgotten to take the tape off!!!!!!

4.  Stamp the remaining image onto the desired card stock - punch it out or use it according to your plan.

Here, Kitty, Kitty, Kitty

It is apparently true that I don't read instructions properly….all the time.  When I was working on the sketch for this weeks' MDS Monday challenge, I had initially used it as a scrapbook sketch in my attempt to get more of Elliot's 2013 book finished.  When I went to post it on the challenge blog I realized that I was suppose to change the colour of the DSP - well I tried, but I didn't like how it looked on this spread - so I kept these pages as they were and created the card I posted Monday.

But I had to share these - I'm pleased with how the cat turned out - not exactly like Button, but pretty close.  She doesn't run away from him as much any more - in fact she'll put herself into his hand to be pet.

Here is the page for the adjoining page to tell the whole story.

Pistachio Mambo Christmas

This week over at Merry Monday, they have a fun sketch and colour combo.  They are calling for a lime green and deep pink.  I don't have any Green Galore around anymore (anyone remember that colour?) so I went with Pistachio Pudding and Melon Mambo. Fun, fun, fun.

Hope you had a good beginning to your week.  To be honest, I've been grumpy all day.  Gotta do some more crafting or arting to get me out of it!

Thanks for stopping by -

Changing Colours...

Welcome to another MDS Monday Challenge - Holly has the sketch for us this week and would like us to change the colour of our DSP this time round.

I saw these two colours together on something this past week  - so just had to give it a try.  I have originally used the "Kaleidescope" DSP.  Because the original papers have a variety of colours on them, they become a monochromatic scheme when you change the colour - and I love that.

Here is the sketch -
Hope you have fun with it - we'll look forward to seeing what papers you change!

Have a great day - Joan

Clean and Simple Spring

The Paper Players have the right idea this week with their challenge - Plain and Simple Spring!

I had the embossed background on my desk left over from last Monday - so I grabbed some Coastal Cabana and went to work.   I'm loving these colours together.

I'm not getting this posted until after the busyness of the day is over - it was a good one.  Hope your weekend was good for you too.

Thanks for stopping by!

Rainbow Smiles

I can't believe I haven't posted since Thursday - but I've been working on report cards - so I guess that's part of the reason time has passed me by.
I sat down with the Friday Mashup this afternoon - They are working with the following sketch this week and incorporating rainbow colours into the project for the mashup.
I decided to pull out the watercolour paper and douse it with reinker.

To get the bands of colour,
1)  I used an aqua painter  to wet  a small section of the paper
2) Add a drop of reinker and hold it vertically so the ink drips down the wet section - help it along with the aqua painter if necessary.
3) Continue across your paper until you've filled in the sections.  As I wet each section, I let some of the water bleed into the previous section so that the colour would blend a bit.

Here is the Friday Mashup Sketch

And here are my card instructions….
