Good Sunday Morning - I'm not sure what the temperature is going to be like today, but the sky is wonderfully blue - so it's all good!!!
Some members of our Stampin'Up! team are putting together some "packages" of SU product to help customers get free Sale-a-bration stuff. I chose to put together a Vintage package, and this is the card I created to be highlighted with the bundle.
I've used the sketch today from The Sweetest Thing. It worked very well with what I had in mind.
I finally got around to creating one of the ribbon flowers which I saw on a card created by a fellow Color Dare design team member, Melissa at My Paper Obsession. I saw the rolled flower for the first time on this card. I went to the tutorial for the rolled flower and did it for the first time today. The Seam Binding ribbon was easy to work with and it works okay nestled up against the Vanilla Rosettes.
I hope your day is wonderfully bright and full of crafting and family time. Thanks for stopping by for a visit. Joan

Vintage Extravaganza Cards
Here are two more cards from our Extravaganza on Saturday.
For the Bliss card I added the distressing around the edges of the mat and the punch. When I got home I decided to add a bit of spritzing with the Early Espresso ....just to add a bit more vintage look to it.
I didn't have the stamp set that was "suppose" to be used for this Vanilla and White card....no one at our table did - so we improvised and used the Bliss set again and "You're a Gem". It worked perfectly. I hadn't used the Chantilly Crocheted trim before and I quite liked it - it's narrower than the Victoria. The tiny little flower is in three layers - which is also something that I don't always remember to do.
I would like to do a similar layout of the Vanilla & Black
card as a wall hanging - it's been done before and I've seen them and liked them. Now that I've done a small one I'll maybe get one done.
The temperatures were amazing here yesterday - +8 and warmer today. Seems so strange since we were freezer and being snowed on last week.....that's life in Alberta though. It was actually raining yesterday morning when my husband went out for bus supervision! Incredible!!!!
Hope you have a Terrific Thursday - Thanks for stopping by!

Extravaganza Cards
Here are two of the cards we did this weekend at our Team Extravaganza. What a ton of fun we had and we were totally spoiled with the number of projects (cards, scrapbook pages, mini scrapbook and Valentines) we were able to create, plus a terrific lunch!
The first set of cards we worked on were basically cards which could be done easily at a class - but still have Wow factor!
The Espresso and Craft card used the Embossing Resist technique; but we used Whisper White paper and not Glossy.
For the second butterfly note card, we used pastels and a blender pen to colour in the butterfly.
Tomorrow is Color Dare day, so I will share more of our
projects on Thursday.
As I'm posting this, I have my son and two of his friends shoveling the snow off our roof - I hate to admit that I said ......"Don't do something stupid until I get into the house so I can get a better shot." Thus spoken before they did flips off the garage. Oh to be young again!!!! Although I never could do a back flip!
Hope there is sunshine and safety in your life today. Thanks for stopping by. Joan

Enjoy Bird Cages
Today's card is totally cased. I created it a while ago when getting ready for the Extravaganza Display this weekend. It was a bit funny/helpful/bizzare how quite a number of blogs I visited during that time used the Nature Walk stamp set. I have then been able to case some cards to add to my display - and believe me, I will be giving credit to the inspirational stampers!
This idea comes from Nance at Canopy Crafts. She is a fellow Color Dare Design Team Member and I love seeing what she has created on her blog! Below is the card which Nance created. I have to admit I placed all of my birdcages in the EXACT same order she did. I didn't want to mess it up!
I also liked how Nance only crimped up a portion of the Seam Binding Ribbon and it's so easy to do with this ribbon!
I must say I came home from a good day at school, knew I didn't have to go to choir tonight - so I took off my makeup, and had my pj's on by 4:30. I'm going to settle into my stamping room for a while, probably play some games and then I'm ready to hit the sack whenever I feel like it. Life is good!
Hope you had an enjoyable, productive day. Thanks for stopping by! Joan
Stamp Set/s - Nature Walk, You're a Gem
Paper - Marina Mist, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Botanical Gazette DSP
Ink - Old Olive, Marina Mist, Early Espresso
Other - Oval punch, Pear Pizzaz Seam Binding Ribbon, Sticky Strip, Basic Pearls, sponge daubers, dimensionals, Stamp-a-ma-jig.

Colour Dare #93
WoooHoooo - it's Color Dare Wednesday and we have another winner. Although I usually cringe with fear when I see that Pacific Point is involved, I'm quite happy with how this turned out. I guess I'm learning how to use a colour minimally.
This Weeks' Dare Colours.....
Regal Rose,
Pink Pirouette
and
Pacific Point.
Regal Rose,
Pink Pirouette
and
Pacific Point.
The sketch for my card is from this week's Mojo Monday
I used two layers of the scalloped circle....punching holes into the Pink Pirouette layer so that the Pacific Point showed through.
The little blossoms are the Vanilla Rosettes which I coloured with Rose Red marker. I think I'm really going to like these little flowers, you can make them go with anything.
I hope you pick up this Dare....be sure that you post a link to your creation over at the Color Dare Challenge Blog. I enjoy going to your blogs to see what you've created....so many talented people out there. Also, if you post to a public gallery, such as Splitcoast, remember to tag your project as CD93.
Now hop on over to the other members of our Design Team to see their inspirational creations.

CAS Owl
This week's Clean and Simple Challenge over at Splitcoast was to be inspired by THIS card by cindybstampin. I liked the little collage that she created in the corner and there have been many interpretations in the SCS gallery.
The colours have been incorporated from last Tuesday's Play Date Cafe.....
I controlled myself very well by not adding anything to the base of the card - no embossing, no spritzing, no distressing - hey there isn't any distressing on this card at all - WOW - that's almost as odd as me not using dimensionals on a card!!!! (The owl is raised up!)
In order to get the ribbon to go around, I punched a small hole in the "spine" of the card and ran it through.
So, I hope that you too can have a clean, simple non-stressed day! Thanks for stopping by! - Joan

Glenda's Amusing Challenge #100
I am so, so, so excited today to be part of a blog hop with an incredible group of creative women today. Glenda Wyatt from "Glenda's Papers, Scissors & Rocks" is hosting her Amusing Challenge #100 and there's blog candy involved so read on....
Glenda's challenge is to use as much or as little red on your card as you like. You can incorporate it by using paper, ink, ribbon, embellishments, etc. The red on my card comes from the fantastic Glimmer Paper that is included in our current Occasions Mini catalogue. It is so easy to work with....and you don't end up with glitter all over yourself, so that's a plus. Unless of course you like that bit of glimmer on your cheeks, hands, clothing, etc. I used the new "Eat Chocolate" set and the chocolate at the top of the label is raised with a dimensional. The sketch for this card comes from Our Creative Corner.
As I mentioned there is blog candy involved in this hop, but you must complete the challenge to be eligible to win the blog candy. If you play along, please leave a comment on Glenda's blog (http://papersscissorsrocks.blogspot.com) and link back to her post from your post. Glenda will have a picture of the blog candy posted on her blog. If you upload to an online gallery, please use the keyword GRAC100.
You have until midnight Pacific Time on January 23rd to play along and you can play along as many times as you like. The winner will be randomly chosen and announced on January 24th."
Here is a list of the wonderfully creative women involved in the hop. Please note that you don't have to go them in any particular order just sit back and enjoy visiting.

Walk in the Woods
We will certainly be waiting a number of months before taking a walk in green and growing woods - but I wanted to use the "Nature Walk" stamp set for a scrapbook page.....and none of the images are snowy! We're in for another dump of snow today - at least it's nice and fluffy.
Through my life I've always enjoyed traipsing through the woods and seeing the different things growing along the ground. Subsequently, I've taken lots of pictures over the years of things in nature - to use either with Girl Guides, when I was involved as a leader, or with my science classes at school. I had never thought of it before, but they deserve to be scrap booked just as much as pictures of the people I love. So here's a start.
I drew out the branches of a tree on Early Espresso paper and used a sheet from "Botanical Gazette" as the base and as one of the strips along the side. For the lettering along the bottom, I used the Big Shot to punch out letters from the Wood Sheets that we have...see the smaller photo for a close up....and I distressed the edges with Early Espresso.
I added random butterflies, bees on the base sheet and foliage along the bottom.
The good thing about seasons is that you know one will always follow the other, and at some point we'll be able to get out and enjoy a different kind of nature than what we're experiencing right now.
Hope your day is full of appreciation of what's around you....have a good one and thanks for stopping by.

Nature Walk with a Friend
Here's yet another Nature Walk Card.....
I stamped "En Francais" onto glossy white paper with Early Espresso ink. Then I took a scrap of sand paper to create the Faux Linen, and sponged some So Saffron onto it. Followed up by stamping the foliage from Nature Walk.
I added a line of sticky strip and then scrunched up the Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon onto it. I love how easy it is to work with this ribbon.
Finally, I took one of the new Vanilla Rosettes from our Occasions Mini and colored it with the So Saffron marker.
The hardware, unfortunately is from the retired Hodgepodge hardware set.
I planning to spend a lot of time in my stamp room this weekend....it's suppose to be snowing, so it will be a great place to hunker down. Hope you have a fun filled weekend planned.
Thanks for stopping by! Joan

Linen Butterfly
I know I've been using this "Nature Walk" set quite a bit lately....and I'm not finished with it yet. I'm creating a number of different projects with the set for a display that will be up at our Extravaganza on January 22. I do, however, have to stop making cards, and move on to some different types of projects....this weekend.
I picked this stamp set to feature because I do like it a lot. I'm also doing a short and sweet demo on how to do the Faux Linen technique - so I've been doing a lot of that too!!! For this card, I scratched the glossy paper with sandpaper, and then used craft ink to stamp the butterflies and sealed them with clear embossing powder. Once dry, I sponged the Marina Mist onto the background and dabbed So Saffron onto the butterflies.
The sketch I've used is from Wednesday's Splitcoast Sketch Challenge.
I'm hoping that my son will have our new Mac up and running by the time I get home from school today. That will be the high point of the week for sure!!!!
Hope you have a couple of high points in your life too! Thanks for stopping by for a visit.

First Color Dare of 2011
WooooHoooo - It's the first Color Dare of 2011 and what a fun combo it is...
Poppy Parade
So Saffron
Very Vanilla
I've used this week's sketch from over at the Corrosive Challenge. It makes for a nice clean and simple card. I'm sorry to say that I have some sort of aversion to too much plain paper and so I spritzed the Vanilla card base with the So Saffron and Poppy Parade ink. Gotta love that Spritzer tool! I was happy to use some of the Glimmer brads in the two featured colours too! Worked out perfectly. I've also noticed that for the second week in a row I've used a stamp from "Punch Bunch" which is one of the Sale-a-bration sets which will be coming out at the end of the month.
Hope you are finding some time in this new year to work on some challenges.... take this Color Dare and be sure when you post to a public gallery, that you label it CD92. Also, remember to post it over at the Color Dare Challenge Blog so that everyone can see your creation. You may even be selected as the Featured Stamper!
To get a few more fantastic ideas for working this Dare - take a peek at what the other Design Team members have come up with....
Hope you are having a Wonderful Wednesday!

Latticed Butterflies
Well, the second week of January and there is NO way any butterflies would survive in the weather we've just had here in Alberta - but it's good to look forward to spring.
A lot of people have been using the technique of attaching punched pieces to a cardstock base and then running it through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.....so I decided to try it with butterflies.
I'm also loving our pearls - so easy to add those little strings as bodies for these creatures - I just don't like them without a body!!!!
I'm sure to use some hearts this way for Valentine's too!
Hope you've had a Marvelous Monday - I'm getting ready for a workshop tomorrow and then my daughter is wondering if we can watch a movie together tonight......so I'd better get the chores done first!!!!

Believe me....you would not want to be in one of these planes today - lots of snow has fallen the last two days, and the temperatures are falling.....
but....it is a great stamp set for masculine cards. This is one of the sets, Plane and Simple, which is featured in the new Occasions Mini.
I used some of the map paper from the "Newsprint" DSP. For the strip across the middle I used the Faux Linen technique - which is shown closer up in the second photo. I've also raised the center plane using dimensionals.
The sketch for this card comes from the Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge Blog.
I know that a lot of my facebook friends from around North America are covered with snow this weekend,
so I hope that where ever you are, you are keeping warm crafting, or snuggling up with a good book and a mug of something hot. I'm hoping to accomplish both of those things today!
Thanks for stopping by!
Joan

Wednesday Color Dare
I am happy to be able to post a card for you this week....it takes a lot of steps....but at least it happens!
This weeks' Color Dare is: Tangerine Tango, Tempting Turquoise and Pear Pizzaz. What a cool combination! I'm in need of some baby cards still, so thought this combo would work whether it was a boy or girl.
The little duck from "Every Little Bit" goes perfectly with the tag which is included in one of the Sale-a-bration sets that's coming up at the end of this month.....
I've also used the Pear Pizzaz Seam Binding Ribbon which is featured in the new Occasions Mini that started today.
The strip behind the ducks was created by sponging the three colors together on white cardstock.
I hope you take up the Color Dare this week and post your creation over at the Color Dare Challenge Blog. You may end up as our Featured Stamper! Also remember to use CD91 when posting to any public galleries. Happy Stamping....
Now, hop on over to the other members of the Design Team to see what they have created this week!

Apologies
I'm sorry I've been absent for awhile....and will continue to be for a while longer. We are in the process of getting a new computer and it hasn't been a complete deal yet. I'm desperately hoping that it won't be too much longer.....I can post on my laptop, but I can't download pictures onto it. Very annoying
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas holiday and a Happy New Year too. Blessings to you all through 2011. Once I get my new computer I know it's going to ROCK!!!
