Ombre Butterflies

Good morning - I actually made this card yesterday before I went to school, but I never got around to posting it through the day.

I've created it for the SUO Challenge which was a NO layer card.  I'm actually getting a bit more comfortable with these.  I picked a spectrum of blues for an ombre effect with the butterflies - the top one is popped up with a rhinestone. Rhinestones are scattered around - not something I'm used to doing (scattering!) but I like how it turned out.  I used my markers to colour the sentiment in a opposite ombre to the butterflies…..didn't realize it was opposite until I stamped it though.

Off to school now - still lots of prep for Teacher's convention, but I hope to get some stamping done this afternoon.
Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by.

Ombre Thank You

Hey, Hey, Hey - Happy Friday everyone.  I got the Friday Mashup completed this afternoon and.....my paper pumpkin for this month put together - so I'm on a roll!

This week the Friday Mashup was...
  1. Create a project with a  "Tree or Leaves."
  2. Create a project using the "Color Orange."
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a "Project with Leaves/ Tree & the Color Orange."
I decided to create an ombre background to incorporate the Orange.....and well as having orange leaves with a Pumpkin Pie button to gather everything together.  Clean and simple....not something I accomplish very often.

I also put together the Paper Pumpkin Memo Medley.  It's something I'm going to keep in my stamping room to help me keep track of things!

Hope your weekend has happy crafting elements in it.  I'm hoping to do some prep work for my November events.  Stay tuned!

Thanks for dropping by,
Joan

Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

Today's post is a collection of items from yesterday, today, and for tomorrow as part of an application process.

YESTERDAY
I had to pull out the flower garden, shown above, which I created with fabrics, ribbon and cardstock.  The sun is shining, the birds are singing, but there's still tons of snow on the ground.  So this is a good reminder that spring will come!

Two Sunday's ago, I had my Chicks and Chocolate event and it was a great success.  I created little flags to co-ordinate with all the cards which were named after different kinds of chocolate.
This is an event I will definitely do again.

TODAY
One of today's cards was created for the Friday Mashup!  The Mashup was to use lined paper and have a distressed look.  This is my second package of Fan Fair DSP - I just love it!

Another card for today is for Merry Monday - it was a tic-tac-toe board for this challenge and I love the options you get!  I created an ombre background and then tore paper to create a bit of a landscape for these three to stand on.  They have been fussy cut and raised off the background.....and because it's a Christmas card, I just had to give them ribbons around their necks.

and TOMORROW....
Well - April's Technique Class...One of the techniques we'll be doing is the  Chalkboard technique.  To get the "chalk" line around the edge of both pieces, I traced the inside of the framelit before cutting it out.

and finally - for one of the scrapbook layouts for Stamp with Me Monday we'll create this sketch.  If you'd like a different coloured background, let me know.

That's it for today - Hope you are enjoying your Easter Weekend.
Thanks for stopping by,
Joan

Ombre Butterflies

This is a quick post as I'm trying to accomplish tons of things today - I decided to do the Friday Mashup!  They want butterflies this week - I just had to.  I didn't really stick to the sketch, but I did use my brayer and I did include the butterflies.

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:

1. Make a project using the "Sketch".
2Or Make a project using "Butterflies & Your Brayer".
3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project with "your Brayer using the Sketch and add some Butterflies".

It's  a busy day - end of Sale-a-bration, end of the Bounce Back Bookathon, and we find out today the results of the voting for the Alberta Teacher's Association....Lots to think about and do.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by to visit.  Joan

More Altered Journal Pages

I've been working in my altered book almost everyday - experimenting with different things.  I drew in these flowers first and then I covered the page with our Watercolor Wonder Crayons and used the aqua painter to blend in the colour.  I suppose the crayons would react differently depending on what kind of paper the book was made from...I was happy with this result.

I must admit I used regular sharpies for this page - I stuck my ipad music on shuffle and incorporated the names of the artists within the doodles.  My main objective for this page was to practice my swirls.  They still need work.

I used the brayer and ink pads for the base of this page...going from Summer Starfruit, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango up to Cajun Craze.  Sharpie was used for the Mandala.

Hope you have a creative day - Thanks for stopping by.

Kiss, Kiss, Kiss

Ooo - Ooo - Ooo - I must say I was tickled pink when I saw the challenge over at The Paper Players today.  I have been waiting for a pink challenge so I could pull out the "lip stick" for this stamp.  Allison is the one who wanted this stamp - but we share. The colour challenge at Paper Players is - Pretty in Pink, Rose Red and Regal Rose.

I used my craft inks for the lips and then covered them with clear embossing powder so they would shine.  I am loving the font for the "Hand-Penned Holiday" stamps which are coming up in the Holiday Mini.

I must say that this card is a duplicate of THIS ONE I created with the  butterflies.

I spent yesterday afternoon re-creating the paper flowers from the July Stampin'Success front cover...I added a few extra colours of my own - I have to "copy" first sometimes before the creative juices start to flow...  I think I will get some floral stems because then they'll bend - these guys are pretty stiff right now ( I used skewers which I sponged with Lucky Limade).  I had fun making them!

Thanks for taking time to stop by for a visit.  Have a great day!
