Sunday Stamps Spider

Woo Hoo - It's sketch day at Sunday Stamps and Tara has a fabulous one for us this week.  She's told us to not be afraid to think outside the box - and I guess that's what I did.  I had just finished putting together the Spook-tacular Halloween Printer's Tray Kit and decided to use left over pieces to create this week's card.

The glittery spider web and the chevron piece are from the kit.  I created a smaller spider using the new 1 1/4 inch scallop punch.  He's a little less "in your face" than the spider I made last year.

Give the sketch a whirl - there are so many creative possibilities with it!  If you need some extra inspiration, pop over to Sunday Stamps to see what the rest of the design team came up with.  Once you've finished your project, don't forget to link your creation to the challenge blog.  You may get selected as a guest designer.

Here is my Printer's Tray.  I followed the instruction exactly - EXCEPT for the section with the flying witch.  The original design had a photo in it - but I decided to see what Michelle Zindorf has been doing, and copied her tutorial.

I'm very excited today, because my son is finally back from Cupertino - now an Apple Genius - and we get to resume our Family Sunday Dinners.  We did have one while he was away - but I missed two while Elliot and his mom were out of town.  Three weeks without seeing a little one is a lot!  I'll be having my camera out for sure.

Hope your day holds something special for you.  I look forward to seeing what you create for Sunday Stamps!  Thanks for stopping by!

Amazing Sunday Stamps

Happy Sunday!  It's a colour challenge today at Sunday Stamps and Holly has a poppin' group of colours for us - I thought I'd have trouble with this combo because Melon Mambo scares me a wee little bit. But, once I picked the stamp set I wanted to use, everything fell together quite nicely and I even used the Melon Mambo the most.  My daughter wants to send this to one of her friends.

The little balloon is layered and the framelit is popped up over the ribbon too.  And, just to keep things interesting, (and to use things that I often forget about), I've added some Chrystal Effects to the letters, making them pop and shine at the same time.

I actually love these colours as we're on the brink of the fall tones.  So give them a whirl and post your creation over at the Sunday Stamps Challenge Blog where you'll also find some fabulous inspiration from the fabulous design team.

Have fun!  Hope your day is fabulous, and thanks for stopping by.

Sooted Ghost Ship

I can't believe it's the middle of the week already and it's going to be a busy day - so here we go

I'm preparing for next month's technique class with the above card.  I have done the sooting technique at team meetings but have never tried it at home.  It took a couple of tries before I was able to create the effect I wanted.  It was sort of magical though and I'm looking forward to doing it October 5 with my stampers.

HERE is the tutorial on Splitcoast to show you how to do this technique.

Hope you have a fantastic day.
Thanks for dropping by.

Digital Stamping

I've been spending lots of available time playing with the new MDS2 (My Digital Studio 2) - Creating scrapbook pages, treat packages and, like the above, "subway art" pieces.  I can't believe how my brain is working overtime on ideas using this program.  I'll be printing off and framing the Halloween poster to put at my front door in October.

I'm holding my Scrap with Me Monday class on September 17th - BUT even if you don't want to scrap and you'd like to come and see what MDS2 has to offer - drop on by!

These sour cream containers were created and printed off at Staples - I put them together and gave each member of the staff one at our first meeting of the year.

I learned how to put one photo in multiple boxes - super easy!

Elliot got a patriotic page for his first Canada Day.

Using the templates that the program has already made makes it quick and easy to put a page together....and you have the ability to change things and make it your own too.

I'm having a great time getting Elliot moments scrapped.

Hope you have a fabulous Monday.
Thanks for stopping by.

Sunday Stamp Leaf

Hey, hey - back again for a sketch challenge at Sunday Stamps.  This week's sketch was designed by Monica.  I love how the sections are different sizes.  I decided to use Comfort Cafe for my paper and spent a lot of time making "Baby Wipe" leaves with different sets and dies.  I settled on a single leaf on a circular background....that Cajun Craze piece at the top of the card was just too busy to "support" the other leaves; to my mind anyway.

Rather than a strip of ribbon along the side I used the Double Scallop Ribbon Border punch and ran a piece of Early Espresso Baker's Twine down the middle.

Give this sketch a try, as you can see from Monica's sketch - you can use any shape as the focal point, so the sky's the limit.  Check out what the other Design Team Members have created over at Sunday Stamps and when you're finished with your creation be sure to link it to the blog so we can check out what you've come up with.

Thankfully, the leaves haven't started to change here - the weekend is suppose to be a good one, but it's suppose to get cooler Monday - so I'll be enjoying a bit more deck time for a couple of days.
If you're a fellow teacher, I hope your first few days back a school were good.
Thanks for stopping by for a visit.

Sunday Stamp Thoughts

WooHooo - It's a colour day this week at Sunday Stamps and today's fabulous colour combination comes from Tara.
I must admit I don't use Sahara Sand very often, but I do like it with this combination, although I only featured it as a mat.  Be sure to take a peak at what the other Design Team Members came up with at Sunday Stamps; it's fun to see how everyone showcased the colours.
Once you've finished with your creation, be sure to link your post back to the Challenge blog so we can see what you came up with.
Next week - another sketch challenge!

The school prep has taken some of my energy this year - must be an age thing,  and we take our son to the airport tomorrow as he heads down to Apple Headquarters for 3 weeks training as a Genius.  Young man hasn't traveled that far on his own before so I'm a bit anxious for him.  I know he will do well, and he'll miss his little Elliot to pieces!

Hope your long weekend is going well - hope to see your creations over at Sunday Stamps.
Thanks for dropping by.
