Color Dare Wednesday

This card is being re-posted for Color Dare #90 due to the unfortunate necessity to rearrange dares.....

Another great set of colours to work with this week from Riley. This combo could go in so many directions - but I chose to create a baby card; highlighting the Baja Breeze.

Our Color Dare is: Baja Breeze, Rich Razzleberry, Pink Pirouette, and Very Vanilla.

I had fun with all the circles.....and with the buttons and brads that match - it's all about the matching!!!!!

I hope you take the Dare and create something wonderful with this combination - when you've finished, don't forget to post it at the Color Dare Challenge Blog. Also, when you post your creation on other public galleries remember to use CD90 as your tag.

I'm excited to see what my other design teams members have come up with this week - here are their links so you can take a peak and be inspired too....

Color Dare #89

Wow, just a couple more Colour Dare's until the end of the year. It's hard to believe....I'm having blast doing them though and seeing everyone else's creations also. There has been a bit of necessary rearranging with the Color Dare - so this has been renumbered as #89.

This week we're working with Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler and Soft Suede. I was happy to use Soft Suede because I really like it!

I used the Northern Flurries Embossing folder with the Cherry Cobbler and then punched out the large scallop circle around the biggest snowflake.

This is a great colour combination for the holiday season, so I hope you take the Dare. Be sure to post your creation on the Color Dare Challenge Blog and when posting to a public gallery be sure to use CD89.

Here are the links to the other members of the Dare Team so you can check out what they've come up with this week....

I hope you are nearing the completion of your holiday preparations and will be able to settle down with friends and family to celebrate the season. Blessings to you all. Thanks for stopping by.....Joan

A Soccer Christmas

Just thought I'd quickly share this card with you.

My husband's family picks names and uses a theme each year for Christmas gifts. This year the theme is Sports and Leisure. My son picked the name of one of his cousins who is very environmentally and socially conscious. We felt the best gift to give her would be a contribution to World Vision - and because of the theme, we decided to give money for soccer balls for children. So - I grabbed my "All in the Family" set and created a group of happy children receiving the six soccer balls. I'm sure she'll be pleased.

We're almost ready for Christmas - still have a bit of wrapping to do. Not many more sleeps now! Thanks for stopping by - Joan

Triple Shells

Here's the card that I created this week for the Mojo Monday Sketch. It's been a number of days since I've made a Christmas card.....I'll have to work on that for tomorrow.

For the central shell I embossed the image on watercolor paper with gold embossing powder. It was coloured in using reinker and the aquapainter.

Just a quick post for today - hope you are having a thrilling Thursday - one more day till the end of the week and into Christmas break! WoooHooo!

Retirement Tree

My husband and I are getting more and more into the season of seeing our friends retire...so thought I should stock up on some cards for those events. This card was also created for the Clean and Simple Challenge this week over at Splitcoast - we were to base it on THIS card by Biggan.

I'm off to the surgeon today for my 6 week check up on my knee (although this is 9 weeks!!!) I'm hoping everything is as it should be.

Hope everything is fine and wonderful in your neck of the woods!

Beary Christmas

Only got one card Saturday - I've found some additional freedom finally - I can drive again for the first time since October 8....Yipeee. So, I ventured into the city. Still don't have the stamina for crowds and lineups for this time of year - but at least I know I can drive where I need to.

This was a fun card - it's full of challenges, but the background was fun and stems from the colours given out by the Play Date Cafe....Here are the challenges:

Sweet Stop - Sketch
Crafty Creations - A Beary Creation - I used the Bear from "Under the Stars" and the Santa hat from "Sock Monkey Accessories". I found that if I placed the hat just right, I could get rid of the bears grumpy face - he still has a quirky smile - but at least he looks like he's in a more festive mood!
Play Date Cafe - Colours - Two blues and a purple.... I think it was just as much the inspiration
for these colours as anything that moved me to create the background I have. I embossed the star in gold on watercolour paper, spritzed the paper with water and then added the colours - Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise and Elegant Eggplant using reinkers and my Aqua Painter.

The ribbons across the middle are both retired - the Pacific Point ribbon had the white stripes through the middle - I like how it looks with the turquoise on top.

Well, here's to a wonderful weekend - Hope you get all the little jobs done that are necessary at this time of year. Thanks for taking time to drop by for a visit - Joan

Stamp Set/s - Under the Stars, Sock Monkey Accessories, Snow Swirled

Ink - Elegant Eggplant, Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point, Versa Mark
Other - Gold Embossing Powder, Reinkers, Aqua Painter, Tombow Glue, Champagne Glass Glitter, Dimensionals, Pacific Point Ribbon (retired), Turquoise Grosgain Ribbon (retired)

Clean and Simple

It's a clean and simple day today - although I created this a couple of days ago for the following challenges....

Card Positioning System - Sketch
SCS CAS - Bows

I used the Presto Patterns Specialty paper to create the butterflies and also as the small white square in the center. I thought spritzing it with red would help bring some of the design out, but it really didn't.

I know it's a bit early for butterflies - but they'll come around soon enough. Hope you're having a fantastic Friday - and that you move into a wonderful weekend. Thanks for stopping by - Joan

Stamp Set/s - Baroque Motifs, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper - Whisper White, Real Red, Presto Patterns Specialty DSP

Morning Coffee

Can't say that I've been drinking a lot of coffee since I've been home - but I've been doing a lot of sleeping - so there ya go.

Challenges for today -
Mojo Monday - Sketch - I actually took the sketch and flipped it on it's side because of the wheel I was using.
SCS Clean & Simple - Bows

Any sort of hot brew would be nice today - we had a snowfall last night and the sky is clear and sunny today - so curling up with a warm cup and a book is a marvelous idea.

Hope you find time to relax today in this busy season. Thanks for stopping by - Joan

Color Dare #88

Happy Wednesday - Color Dare Day!!!

Today's colors are Old Olive, Riding Hood Red and any Neutral - I picked Basic Black and Vanilla because of the DSP I used. I know that this color combo works perfectly for Christmas - but I thought outside the box instead.....

For the tiny little black pearls on the scalloped edge I took our White Pearls and attacked them with a black sharpie pen.....

Whether you work these colors into a Christmas card or an "outside the box" card - don't forget to share your creation at The Color Dare Challenge Blog - and when you post your creations on a public gallery use CD88 as your tag. And now, here are the links to the other fantastic members of this Design Team so you can take a peak at what they've created this week.....

Nutcrackers & Snow

I haven't created two cards in one day in a while....I liked the idea of a number of these challenges....and there are quite a few included in these two creations....so here we go....

The Sweet Stop - Sketch
Stamp Something - Christmas Color Combo
SCS Free4All - Nutcracker Theme

I haven't been to see the Nutcracker in a quite a few years - however I study it with some of my music classes at school. The dance and music is what I love most about it all...and although I danced, I never took ballet so never got to have a pair of toes shoes. So - I dug out another retired set, "En Pointe", to use for this card because I don't think of the nutcracker itself - I think Ballet!

Card Patterns - Sketch
CCEE Stampers - Use a snowman
Play Date Cafe - Rich Red & Fresh White
SCS Ways to Use It - Letters

Sorry to say, I dug out another retired set for this card - I do miss these Flakey Friends! There is also a wee bit of Dazzling Diamonds on the letters and on the ground beneath the snowmen, but it's not dazzling in the photo - oh well!

The Christmas season got kicked off last night by my attending the Christmas concert put on by the Josephburg Choral Society, - my husband directs the Men's Chorus. Perhaps today I will get the family to lug the Christmas decorations in from the garage. Then I'll procrastinate about putting the lights on the tree - I HATE that part - wish they'd just fly on the tree themselves!!!! Other than that, the house has the chance of getting a bit more spruced up for the season today.

Hope you have things which are helping you to get into the spirit, without adding stress! Thanks for stopping by for a visit - Joan

Paris Amour

I had this card all ready to upload and post yesterday but my ph0to program refused to work. Thankfully, it booted up today - don't know what the problem was - but glad it's back.

Challenges for this card -
SCS Sketch Challenge - Sketch
Color Throw Down - Marina Mist, Bashful Blue, Chocolate Chip.

This card brings back the memories of the summer and the fantastic time I had there with my husband.

I wanted to add something to the card and finally settled on making my own little charms. I was pleasantly surprised that although the key, crown
and tower images were small, they still turned out okay with shrink paper. I had initially tried to stamp them with the chocolate chip, but the ink didn't really dry well on the plastic, and also didn't show up that well once shrunk.....so I opted for good old Staz On. I will definitely be shrinking more images in the future!!!!!

We have a wonderful sunny day here today - I hope your Saturday is going well and is also full of sunshine. Thanks for stopping by - Joan

Stamp Set - Artistic Etchings, En Francais
Paper - Marina Mist, Bashful Blue, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Neutrals Patterns DSP

Antiquated Wishes

Today's card is for two challenges from earlier this week...

Lord Have Mercy! - Sketch
SCS Colour Challenge #299 - River Rock, Real Red and Old Olive.

When I first saw these colors I thought I'd turn it into another Christmas Card - but decided to deviate from the theme....I'm not a big fan of Real Red - so didn't want to have a lot of it showing...

I absolutely love these old antique items!

Hope you are having a wonderful Thursday - and thanks for stopping by for a visit. - Joan

Stamp Set/s - Puns from the Past, Timeless Treasures, Oval All
Paper - River Rock, Real Red, Old Olive, Neutral Patterns DSP

Color Dare 87

Riley has another wonderful combination in the Color Dare for us this week - these colours are so, so rich together....Perfect Plum, Concord Crush and Chocolate Chip. It almost sounds like a rich Christmas dessert.

The sketch I've used is from November 23, over at Lord Have Mercy!

I'm a bit disappointed that it took me so long to use the glass glitter - of course, if I had purchased at the beginning of the Holiday Mini I'd probably have used two containers of it by now. I absolutely love it - and the TomBow Glue works so well to adhere it!

I hope you take the Dare and use these colours - don't forget to link your creation over to The Color Dare Challenge Blog - you may become our Featured Stamper. Also, if you're posting on a public gallery be sure to use CD87 as your label.

Here are the links to the other members of the Design Team so you can see what they've come up with for this weeks Color Dare....
