Luscious Lavender

I told you I'd include some more of that luscious "Painted with Love" Specialty DSP paper!  For today's sample I've also used the Lots of Lavendar stamp set which you can earn for FREE from January 3-March 31 during Sale-a-bration when you place a $60 order.

Lots of Lavender is a two step stamp, which are always fun because the "colouring" doesn't have to be perfect.  I've used colours that will blend with the background piece, added half of a doily and a little tag at the bottom blinged up with some gold ribbon.  I like rough edged paper, so I tore the paper around the focal image and raised it with dimensionals.  Because I've used the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" stamp set for this card, I will be including it in my All Occasions Stack in January.  I still have to set the date for that, though, so be sure to check out my calendar from time to time to see when it's happening.

I hope that everyone had a blessed Christmas and that you received a gift or a moment that you will cherish in your heart as Christmas 2017. My personal gift was given to me by my sweet little man, Elliot. He picked out the presents for Grandpa and myself on his own at his school’s “Santa Store” where the kids pick the present, but no one knows what it is. Elliot was excited for me to open mine and when I finished he asked, “Do you like it? It’s a church thing.”
My heart melted. As our dear friend and pastor, Ken DeMan, would have said...Elliot is a “Precious, Beloved, Child of God, and Beautiful to Behold.” Amen.

I hope you have a marvelous day,
Thanks for visiting,

Early mornings with a new product....

My fellow demonstrator and friend, Tamara Bertram, mentioned in a Facebook post yesterday, that a  chapter in her life is closing and another beginning because her girls are now old enough that she is not longer has to play Santa in her house; getting up early to bring out treasures and set things up.  She says she is going to miss this chapter.  Well, that chapter ended a long time ago for our family since my children are 29 and 26.  But that doesn't mean I'm not up early.

Okay, Christmas Morning I was up early to keep the cat from bothering my husband, but I've been using those early hours to create - either art or Stampin'Up! creations.  Yesterday, I started playing with one of our new products coming out in January's Occasions Catalogue.

As an artist, this new product excites me because I've been introduced to a variation of it by a friend of mine, so it's exciting that, once again, I'll be able to use Stampin'Up! products in my artwork.  But first - cards.  The product is called "Brusho Crystal Colour" and it is essentially watercolour ink crystals that you sprinkle on waterwashed paper and let the magic happen.

In the card above, I experimented with the five different colours we'll be offering in once package.  I played with each strip differently to see how they moved on the paper.  I will be needing a little more practice.
For the above sample, I water washed the watercolour paper using my Aqua-Painter sprinkled the Brilliant Red and Yellow Crystal Colours onto the paper and played with them with the Aqua-painter.  You don't want to "play" with them too much or you will loose the watercolour effect and end up with one single blob of colour.
For the next card, I sprinkled Prussian Blue and Brilliant Red onto dry watercolour paper and lightly spritzed with water so that a mist fell onto the paper and activated the colour.  I didn't use my Aqua-Painter at all this time because I loved the effect the crystals created themselves.
Because I wanted the background to be the focal point of the card, I used our Happy Birthday Thinlit.  I attached a piece of Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets to Very Vanilla Cardstock before cutting out the "Happy Birthday" so it would stick well to the card.

We got a call early Sunday from our choir director, who was sick, asking if my husband could direct for her that morning.  Of course, our grandson was very excited because he was able to "direct" again with Grandpa.  He takes it very seriously.  Elliot also got to dress up, for the first time, as a shepherd for our Christmas Eve family service.  He took that role very seriously too.  I love this little guy to bits!

I hope all of you, and your family, had a wonderful Blessed Christmas or whatever festive season you are celebrating at this time of year.
Try to relax before the busyness of the next event and take time to be thankful for some small or large thing in your life each day.
Thanks for visiting,

Just Breathe!

Are you ready?  Do you have most of the Christmas preparations finished? I like to TRY and have things finished so that I can relax and just breathe before all the busyness of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day occur.  Sunday will be a busy day because my husband and I will be singing in the choir at the regular morning service and then again in the afternoon at the family Christmas Eve service.  Gone are the days when we had to sing at three Christmas Eve services, so things have actually calmed down a bit.
I still have two things to create in the kitchen today so I'm out of the way tomorrow when my wonderful husband is cooking dinner for our family.  Yes, it is a tradition in his family that the men cook the meals for the major holidays.  (WooHoooo! - don't tell anyone, but I've never cooked a turkey in my life.)

And, here is our little man after his Christmas Concert Performance.  The Kindergarten class did a great job kicking up their slippers and following the actions of their teacher. The whole concert was wonderful.

So, Just Breathe.  For the card above, I actually took left over pieces from a previous workshop and reworked them into a non-Christmas card.  Again, I hadn't used the Eastern Medallions Thinlits Dies yet.  I wasn't completely sold on them at first, but I draw mandalas a lot, so it seemed logical I should try them out.  AND.... the new Mini Dimensionals were perfect for placing on the tiny solid spots of the medallion to left it lift off the page.  The "Just Breathe" sentiment, from the "Colourful Seasons" stamp set, is one of my favorites, both the words and the font.

Don't forget that you still have until January 2 to take advantage of the Year End Sale.  Shopping on line is easy-peasy. And if you use the Host Code - XC94X3B2  you can save on shipping cost by being part of a group order. You can click on the image above to shop at my store or click on the individual images below to get to an item you want specifically.

Wishing you a great day.  Take time to spot the small delights around you.
Thanks for stopping by.
