Exploring with a Color Dare

As soon as I saw these colours from Riley for the Color Dare this week, I saw "masculine" card, and water - so I pulled out "The Open Sea" and merged it with the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge. The colours for this week are:

Baja Breeze
Cajun Craze

I think these colours would be perfect for a Fall sort of card too - but since we haven't even reached summer - it works perfect for the ocean. Make sure that you stop by the other members of the Design Team to see their interpretation.

Sock Monkey in the Sun

It's Color Dare Day and Sock Monkey has joined in on the fun! Riley has Dared us to use

So Saffron
Concord Crush
Neutral of your choice

I stuck with white as my neutral just because of the ice cream. I used a blender pen grabbing ink from the lid of the ink pad to colour in the ice cream treats. I think it's interesting how sometimes it ended up drying pinkish....everything started out with Concord though.
And yes, I know it's a bit ridiculous for Sock Monkey to be wearing a tie with his shades in the sun...but I just HAD to give him a striped tie - my husband wears ties everyday to school. His students tell him they don't recognize him on the street if he doesn't have a tie. I used watercolour paper for Sock Monkey in hopes of creating some sort of effect, but not much happened; except that the tips of this hands and feet are a paler Saffron.

So take the Dare! It will be fun to see what people come up with because these colours lend themselves to a number of images. When your creation is finished be sure to post it over on the Color Dare Blog because you may get selected as a Featured Stamper. Watercolour Color Dare 101

Another Colour Dare Day - I had a great time last week visiting all the new members of the Design Team. I hope you got a chance to pop over to their blogs to see their creations. Today our colours are:

I just love the way the Early Espresso looks when the edge is torn - gives it two different tones. I'm also having fun experimenting with the new Triple Layer Punches that are in the new Summer Mini! The flowers were done on watercolour paper with the Watercolor Wonder Crayons and Aquapainter.

Colour Dare 100

A New Round of Color Dares....WooHoo!!!

Today I rejoin the Colour Dare Design Team and I must say I am honoured to have been asked back. I'm very excited about working with a new team for the next number of months.

Today's Dare is -

Baja Breeze
Sahara Sand

I must say I rarely use Sahara Sand, so it was good to pull it out.
I stamped the flower image onto Whisper White cardstock and added clear embossing powder for the resist embossing technique. I did a second trial on glossy paper, but preferred how the colours stood out on the plain cardstock.

Teddy Revisits Color Dare #99

Color Dare Wednesday

Things have been pretty busy around here what with a Young Author's Conference that I organize volunteers for and Parent Teacher interviews....sometimes life just gets in the way of stamping - it's so wrong.

HOWEVER - I do have my Color Dare card for you today - and it's a cool combo once again!

I had scraps of this combo sitting on my desk for a couple of days and they just kept looking like a masculine birthday card - and I kept seeing "elephant". So....I've created what could very well be a masculine card - if I took the bow off. The sketch is from this week's Mojo Monday - and I know two women who love elephants....so it's all good. (However, they are older than 12 - so I used re-positionable adhesive for the number section).

Color Dare #98

Woo Hoo Happy Wednesday and Color Dare Day. I LOVE this combination!

Perfect Plum
Always Artichoke
Neutral of Choice - Vanilla

I created some small pieces of "background" paper using the Baby Blossoms set. I ended up using my Stamp-a-ma-jig to get the images matched up better and used card stock Velum as permanent guides...which will stay in the stamp sets' box!

This sketch is an older one (December) from the Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge. I always keep a copy of the sketches from the challenge blogs I visit, even if I don't get it done for that week.

These colours just asked me to create something flowery this week and I incorporated this weeks' Sweet Stop Sketch.

When I pulled out a scrap of Garden Green, I found that it already had a floral background stamped on it and the edges were already distressed.....so I just had to use it for my base. I also got the new Build a Blossom stamp set and the matching Blossom Petals Punch. I think it will take a bit of practice for me to figure out these flowers. The ones I've seen look so nice....I'm relatively happy with my creation here, but I need to play around with the set a bit more.

Happy Color Dare Day!!!!!

I must say when I first saw these colours, I zeroed in on the Daffodil Delight and Black - made me think of bumble bees and I thought I would just add a bit of the Marina Mist - Well - the card evolved and I love this combination together - with all the colours playing their part!!!!

I've used on of the Sale-a-bration sets - "Sweet Summer" and I like the way the little swirling branches create a nice DSP. I coloured two of the Basic Pearls with a black Sharpie for the centres of the buttons from the Sale-a-bration Ribbon and Button Pack.

WoooHoooo - it's Color Dare Wednesday and we have another winner. Although I usually cringe with fear when I see that Pacific Point is involved, I'm quite happy with how this turned out. I guess I'm learning how to use a colour minimally.

I used two layers of the scalloped circle....punching holes into the Pink Pirouette layer so that the Pacific Point showed through.

The little blossoms are the Vanilla Rosettes which I coloured with Rose Red marker. I think I'm really going to like these little flowers, you can make them go with anything.

I've used this week's sketch from over at the Corrosive Challenge. It makes for a nice clean and simple card. I'm sorry to say that I have some sort of aversion to too much plain paper and so I spritzed the Vanilla card base with the So Saffron and Poppy Parade ink. Gotta love that Spritzer tool! I was happy to use some of the Glimmer brads in the two featured colours too! Worked out perfectly. I've also noticed that for the second week in a row I've used a stamp from "Punch Bunch" which is one of the Sale-a-bration sets which will be coming out at the end of the month.

Color Dare #89

Wow, just a couple more Colour Dare's until the end of the year. It's hard to believe....I'm having blast doing them though and seeing everyone else's creations also. There has been a bit of necessary rearranging with the Color Dare - so this has been renumbered as #89.

This week we're working with Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler and Soft Suede. I was happy to use Soft Suede because I really like it!

I used the Northern Flurries Embossing folder with the Cherry Cobbler and then punched out the large scallop circle around the biggest snowflake.

This is a great colour combination for the holiday season, so I hope you take the Dare. Be sure to post your creation on the Color Dare Challenge Blog and when posting to a public gallery be sure to use CD89.

Happy Wednesday - Color Dare Day!!!

Today's colors are Old Olive, Riding Hood Red and any Neutral - I picked Basic Black and Vanilla because of the DSP I used. I know that this color combo works perfectly for Christmas - but I thought outside the box instead.....

For the tiny little black pearls on the scalloped edge I took our White Pearls and attacked them with a black sharpie pen.....

Color Dare 87

Riley has another wonderful combination in the Color Dare for us this week - these colours are so, so rich together....Perfect Plum, Concord Crush and Chocolate Chip. It almost sounds like a rich Christmas dessert.

The sketch I've used is from November 23, over at Lord Have Mercy!

I'm a bit disappointed that it took me so long to use the glass glitter - of course, if I had purchased at the beginning of the Holiday Mini I'd probably have used two containers of it by now. I absolutely love it - and the TomBow Glue works so well to adhere it!

Color Dare 86

Oh what a fun set of colours we have for this weeks' Color Dare.....Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Baja Breeze and Wild Wasabi.

I used some of my Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz. I really do need to either get the "Color Catcher" or rig something up when I use this spritz. I'm getting used to it, and am thinking I'd like to get some of the other colours.

I'm sorry that the photo turned out so "bright" - the card is a lot richer looking in person.....because these are wonderfully rich colours together - Thanks Riley!!!!

Color Dare 85

I have a clean and simple Color Dare card for this week....
the featured colours are: Melon Mambo, Blushing Bride and Pacific Point. What a change from the fall and Christmasy colours I've been using lately. I quite like this combination that Riley has come up with for this week.

I've used the "Just Believe" stamp set - double stamping the tall flowers with with Melon Mambo and Blushing Bride. The floral discs are progressively raised to the top Melon disc which has two dimensionals raising it up.

I finally pulled out my "Tiny Tags" set and punch....the tag is attached with a rhinestone brad - which may not quite match the colours for this week, but blends in.

When you've finished your creation with these colours don't forget to post it over at the Color Dare Challenge blog so everyone can see it - and you could become our featured stamper. Also remember when posting on public sites to label your creation CD85. I hope you play along!

Another Color Dare Wednesday!!!! This weeks colours are Pear Pizzaz, Night of Navy and Soft Suede.

When I get these fabulous combinations from Riley - our Color Dare Leader - I grab scraps of each colour and either go with the season/celebration that the colours make me feel....or I look through my own "catalogue" of the stamps sets I have and see which set jumps out at me to use the colours with....well , for this combo these little fellows yelled, "pick me, pick me"!!!

A Perfect Blushing Garden...

It's another Color Dare Day and I found these colours so gentle together....Garden Green, Blushing Bride, Perfect Plum and Very Vanilla.

I tried a technique that I spotted in one of our recent "Stampin' Success" magazines for the blossom of this flower. I wet down a piece of watercolour paper and stamped the flower image in Blushing Bride - classic ink. Once that piece was dry - and the blushing bride colour had bled a bit into the paper, I topped it by restamping the image in Perfect Plum on the dried paper. The tiny bit of pink shows through the blossoms. I then cut out the whole blossom and raised it on the card.

I am loving the self adhesive pearls that we have right now...especially these teeny tiny ones I used in the centres of the tiny blossoms. The yummy Vanilla satin ribbon folds nicely along the bottom!
