Star Studded Birthday

Well, I finally got around to doing the Mojo Monday Sketch....on Friday night. I'm not quite sure where the week went.

I think this is such a fun sketch! You could do so many different things with it. I also incorporated the "Clean And Simple" challenge from Splitcoast which was entitled "Rock and Roll" so I knew all week that I wanted to use the Extreme Guitar, rhinestones and stars. I had planned on it being a girl's card - but having used the black and white, it could go either way.

I'm excited about going to a recorder workshop tomorrow and am hoping to gain some stuff to take back to my classroom since I'm working on recorder with Grades 4-6 right now.

Sing to the Lord

I am so excited that I can start sharing some of the cards I've been creating on the Design Team with digital images from Sugar Creek Hollow.

Any time I see a music themed stamp I want to have it because I give out so many cards as thanks for parents who help at school....or my musical friends. I really liked this image also because of the tiny little flowers that are surrounding the violin.

Our Creative Corner is having a Music Card Challenge this week, so this one fits into that category just fine.

I'm sorry that the words are so small for you in the picture - I'm still learning about how to manipulate digital images. I am having an extreme amount of fun being on this Design Team!!!

Scrappy Music

I had a couple of minutes between workshops Tuesday night and threw this card together. It was quick and easy because every piece of it was scrap that I had in my little drawer.

The Bella was already coloured with a blue dress - I just added the contrast colour in the pleats and added gold pen to the Treble Clef and note.

The Hearts were left over from a previous project a couple of weeks ago. I punched holes in them once I decided how I was going to attach them.

The entire Saffron layer was already put together - Saffron, Bordering Blue and DSP. I added the Always Artichoke base and matt to the Bella - strung the organdy gold ribbon through the hearts and around the layer....and Viola - a done deal.

It was fun to put together. I bet I could spend a whole weekend putting left over pieces together. Maybe I'll challenge myself sometime. Not this weekend though!!!!

Old Mambo Music

Wonderful Wednesday -

I think sketch challenges and colour challenges are my most favorite. I don't mind being challenged to use different things, or try a new technique....but a sketch or colour challenge gives me a base to start with - and then I feel a bit better. Of course there are always those cards or projects which have a mind of their own - but that's always a different story.

Today is the sketch challenge day on Splitcoast Stampers and I took my colours from the colour throwdown #76 over at Stamp Happy.....So Saffron, Melon Mambo and Old Olive. The stamped piece is a left over from the Christmas Thank You cards I made for some of my kids at school. Ya just can't throw those bits and pieces away!

Music and Cupcakes

Yesterday was an extremely busy day, but I did manage to get two cards created in the evening.

The Musical card is for the Featured Stamper challenge yesterday - the stamper was jdmommy - Anne. She has a great gallery and it was hard to make a selection until I came across the card in the thumbnail. I knew I had to use it. So, I pulled out my set and changed it up a bit. I'm going to begin planning a "Music Lover's Card Camp" in the next month or two and think I may use this one. I want all of the cards to have a music theme and stampers can add different greetings as needed.
This cupcake is a digital image is from Delightful Inspiration. What a yummy cupcake! I used a metallic pen around the edges of the plate, but you can't really tell. The microbeads along the side are stuck to "sticky strip" - duh! and I glistened up the cherries with Chrystal Effects.

Music by Design

I can hardly believe I'm awake - I was putzing around on the computer .....this morning.... and thought I check to see if, by chance, the Inspiration Challenge had been posted yet (it was 3:00am). Low and behold - it was and what a fun website - Design Spirit Studio. When I spotted the music clock I knew it was the one I'd use for the challenge and decided that I had to start right away. I created the card and then went to bed while the glitter dried. I decided to try the Van Gogh technique from last weeks Technique challenge - I think I need a bit more practice on that one. The colours are a lot more vibrant in person - but I had fun making it. Now I think I'll get a cup of coffee and do some of my puzzle before taking down the Christmas decorations.

Musical Thank You's

Wondering if the snow will ever stop and wondering if we'll actually be taking a field trip tomorrow to the Winspear Centre to see the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. I've made these thank you cards up for our parent volunteers...they will get used whether it is tomorrow or not. I even got a "those are pretty" from the 16 year old daughter....so that made me happy. Look within your stamp sets to see if you have a set where you can set a darker image on top of a lighter one.
