I guess it's because I love the fall season and fall colours that I was drawn right away to the colour challenge over at Fab Friday. However, I'm still waiting for spring to arrive, so I wanted to create something that was hopeful of my upcoming season; a butterfly was the answer. I can't wait to see them fluttering through my garden. And the big Beautiful Day butterfly was perfect for using all of the challenge colours.
I embossed the butterfly with black, coloured in the sections of the wings and then fussy cut it out. The antennae are always tricky, but I used a Basic Black Stampin'Write Marker to cover up any white paper that was still showing - being sure to wipe off the embossing so I didn't end up making getting ink on my fingers. We've all been there! The Terracotta Tile is used most in the butterfly, so I took the opportunity to use some of the coordinating ribbon. I haven't used much of this colour yet, but I can see how well it works with the fall colours. It is because of the ribbon that I chose to use Crumb Cake for my mat and I like the way it turned out. The Stone 3D embossing folder was available through Sale-a-bration - which ended March 31. I guess I'd better put it away now.
I hope you are finding yourself things to keep you busy while you are in self-isolation. Remember staying home is the best thing right now. I'm working on ways to help my stampers over on Facebook, but I will do my best to post them here too.
Stay Home, Stay Safe
Thanks for stopping by,
Joan
