Flower Trio

Good Morning - I can't believe I haven't posted in so long. I'm "behind" in challenges again too -
This card is for an Inspiration Challenge from a couple of weeks ago from Tenugui Calendars. There were a couple of months I liked, but this one with the dark background caught my eye. I embossed the background flowers on regular white cardstock using the craft Night of Navy ink and clear embossing powder. Then I took a sponge to add the black background. (I suppose I could have done the embossing on black cardstock too.) The flowers were done the same way with the craft ink and clear embossing powder before colouring them in and the bit of glitter added to the centres.
I hope you have a wonderful day - Thanks for visiting. JOAN

Welcome a Star Baby

Today's Splitcoast Challenge (Ways to Use It) was to create a card using stars. I decided to use up some of the old scrapbook paper I had from a Simply Scrappin' Kit from the last catalogue. Unfortunately, it used the old In Colours - which I have paper for, but I don't have the inks anymore. I've also decided that I'd like some star hardware, because, again, I'm finding this a bit plain.

Hope all is well wherever you are - and that you're not buried too deeply in snow. Happy Stampin - JOAN

Dazzling to Plain

Wow, I must have used too much glitter these past few days (for me at least - as is evident by the slight dazzle to my stamping room rug)....I've gone from glitter to no dazzle at all today.
The first card is for yesterday's Colour Challenge - which I wasn't sure I'd be able to handle - Pumpkin Pie, Brilliant Blue and Garden Green - made me think of school colours for some reason. But I came up with the pumpkin flowers and just a wee bit of the blue. The tops of the flowers do have Dazzling Diamonds on them.

The second card is for today's Sketch Challenge, and also for the Colour Throw Down which is Very Vanilla, Mellow Moss and Baja Breeze. I couldn't find any of my SU stamps that peaked my interest for this sketch, or the colours (hmmmm does that mean I need more stamp sets??? - geeee) So, I went into my draw and found my Stamping Bellas. Don't really know about the lack of dazzle - this card is certainly missing
something to my mind - but I think I'm just too tired.

I've THOROUGHLY enjoyed being back at school this week - three months away is like 1.5 summers!!! I had physio on Monday and today, plus being on my feet in the music room has just caused a lot of pain and exhaustion for my knees - but I'm happy and glad to be back with the kids - so I'll just suck it up and know it will pass.

Thanks for stopping by - Happy Stamping - JOAN

Tacky Glitter Challenge

Today's Technique Challenge on Splitcoast was to use Sticky Strip on our card and cover it with glitter. I love this technique 'cause you get the perfect straight line of glitter.
I based my card on the Rainbow Sherbert Designer Series Paper. I have decided that the next time I use the sock monkey, I'm going to try and remember to give him a plain body and fancy paws.
Hope you're having a wonderful day - JOAN

Getting Rid of Scraps...

Well, I haven't done two postings in one day for quite a while, but I'm pretty sure I'll be sleeping after school tomorrow - especially since I go from school right to physio - so a nap will be in order.
Anyway - as I promised myself, I used up a fair number of little pre-stamped pieces that I had tucked away in a drawer. It sort of made it easier to create the cards - but I just think I was having a lucky day!
The Haiku Friendship follows the sketch challenge over at iheart2stamp. I used the little green microbeads for the centre of the flower. The pre-stamped piece is the one with "friendship" embossed on it.
The Technique Challenge on December 24 was Faux Silk with a POP. I could not get it to work that day, but I managed to succeed today. You can't tell in the photo, but the tissue paper is wrinkled. This is also a Sketch Challenge and Colour Challenge from a couple weeks ago...and I'm submitting it for Stamp Something's Challenge this week which was to create something NEW - for me, it was this new technique.

The only things I added to this card today are the "T" and the little flower in the corner. The rest sat in my little drawer for almost a year.

The three stamped pieces for the black and white card were already cut to size and matted. I'm using this for the Ways to Use it Challenge for the New Year which was to add something silver to the card - thus the two little brads and the silver writing.
Thanks for dropping by - Hope everyone has a great Monday - JOAN

Jazzed up Cake

Isn't this cake a riot??? It makes me think of Dr. Seuss!!! I wish I could make my paper that
wonky. My card follows the sketch challenge over at Our Creative Corner for this week, and is for yesterday's Inspiration Challenge. I've also challenged myself today to use up some of the previously stamped pieces that I have tucked into a drawer.....so these pieces are from the retired "Jazzed Up" set.
Thanks for stopping by - Have a great day - JOAN

New Year - New Cards

Wow, the cakes for today's Inspiration Challenge are ABSOLUTELY incredible! You wouldn't want to eat them they're so intricate! Not, the one I picked for my first card - but you've got to check out the website - Cake Nouveau - to at least look at them!!! Last week's challenge over at Our Creative Corner was to use something clear - thus the velum on this card - not truely clear - but sort of.

This second card is for this past week's Sketch Challenge, Colour Challenge (So Saffron, Handsome Hunter, and Bravo Burgundy) and the Creative Corner Challenge - clear Buttons. I used rub-ons on the buttons, as well as on the main saffron piece.

I'm heading to school to get things set in place - it will be interesting to see what the classroom is like after not being in it for three months. Then - I'm going to do THIS weeks' challenge at Our Creative corner which is a sketch challenge.

Have a great day and stay warm. JOAN
